All kidding aside, it was great to have so many Marauders show up last year. Even more great was to see guys doing some SERIOUS perfomance mods !!! And we were honored that an MM ET record was set at SSHS5 :2thumbs:

There are a few changes from last years event. First we have raised the minimum weight to 4000lbs for the heads up classes, but it now includes driver. This means you will NOT have to get out of the car when going to weigh in (yay !!!) Second, NHRA has revised the rules concerning nitrous, non-OEM supercharged, and non-OEM turbocharged cars. As of now, ALL cars drivers that fit the above catagory must wear an SFI approved fire jacket, regardless of ET/MPH. We have no control over this, as Atlanta Dragway is an NHRA owned facility, and they do tech hard. Below is the new ruling from the NHRA rulebook:

10.00 (*6.40 1/8 mile) and slower; all E.T. non-OEM supercharged, non-OEM

What a lot of fun this event is. I guess us big car boys like to stick together, since we know there's more to life than going fast. We go fast WITH STYLE!

As an ex-Mustang owner (86 red GT 12 sec car) and an original owner 92 5.0 LX that I had for 9 years I don't hate the blue oval. But I will be eating a few in November. Heh heh heh!

As they age, their eyesight starts to fail. I think it would be a nice gesture on our part if we all put bright inserts in our embossed Marauder bumpers to assist them in seeing us at the finish line. I was happy last year to see so many of the Chevy folk putting that little lighted bow tie on their front grill. Made it easier to to glance in the mirror and see them. :rolleyes:

On the topic of running Big Dog vs. brackets, you don't have to choose, run both! That's what I have done at the three SSHS events I have attended, and they usually try to structure the event so there is some time between the fastest bracket class and the BD runs....:bandit:

SSHS6 rules require a rollbar if you are 11:00-11.99, but according to NHRA regulations it is only required if you run 11:49 or better. At Fun Ford, a NHRA rules event, I asked the officials and this was confirmed. GASSIT, can you double-check on this?

With our full size cars, correct me if I am wrong. Is it correct that we do not require a full cage but only a roll bar behind the front seats with a restraint system if the car runs 11.49 or faster?
