I posted in the lounge about my car being egged last night. First time I've seen red in a long time. Anyway, my question is, where the eggs hit, the impact 'shattered' the paint. It looks like if you took a hammer and hit a piece of lammanated glass, like a windshield. Lots of scratches and chips too. I was thinking, it just seems as the paint should be a little more durable than this. As I said there are little scratches all over , looks like the egg shells left scratches when they splattered. Anybody have some insight on this? Is there a problem with the paint or is it supposed to be this fragile?

if you can, get a picture of it so we know what we're looking at, but it just sounds like the impact from the eggs, and the fact that they shatter on the paint seems like a normal thing, but i've never seen a car that has been egged before.

looking,

We had a member here that posted on a couple of threads who said he was a 20+year Ford factory paint tech. Maybe he will see this and chime in. I forget which threads (maybe when Dennis had his overspray concerns).

Other than that, what I would do is call Sal Zaino Monday a.m. He has personally answered paint care questions for me and others here.

I feel for you...that really sucks.

Could it be that the egg contents spalttered and the sulphur content of the yolk etched the paint in a shattered pattern? If not every time a small rock impacts the front hood spun up from a front cars tire it would have the same effect.

Probably brown eggs...

I'm thinking since it's black, you're seeing more of the damage than what you expected. I'm sure the body shop guys can work some magic on her and get her back looking like new.

Sorry to hear of your dilemma. I read your post in the lounge yesterday, and and all I could come up with was an 'after the fact' solution. A GARAGE. Not to flame or anything, but I assume you have one. Most buyers of a car such as this don't leave them out side. Mine is in the barn at all times it's not physically running down the road.

As far as paint. I absolutely HATE this paint. I get scratches just from (not) driving the car. They seem to just appear. I have learned to ignore and squint....it will NEVER bet better.
