What a ballplayer! One of the really great ones. Had to leave the game early and the game of life, too. They really didn't say much about his family, surprisingly. RIP Kirby. Dennis

What a shock. Just earlier today I heard he had a stroke and now he passed away. Truely sad day in baseball R.I.P.

I saw this about an hour ago. I remember him in the 87 and 91 world series. He was a great player and team leader. Had a few issues since leaving the game however. Anyway 44 years old is pretty darn young to stroke out.

Wow, that's just sad. He certainly was a excellent ambassador for the game.

After my heart attack in November (43 years of age) it brought into focus the speed at which anyone of us or someone we care about could be gone. Take every opportunity to show them how much you care, and never let the little things, which is really everything else, interfere with your relationships.

You have to make sure those you leave behind will remember you lovingly and do all you can for them while you're on this side of the grass.
Family matters, the rest is just stuff.

Dying sucks, mostly for those left alive.

Kirby was one of the great ones, God given talent instead of steroids, reminded me of Babe Ruth, neither man looked like a ballplayer, always flashing a smile.

R.I.P. Kirby Puckett. :( I agree ... seems that stroke is much more prevalent in recent times and more and more younger people are being affected. Heck, my own son had one at age 26 with none of the classic risk area or warning signs. What the heck is up with this. :dunno: I hope someone is working on investigating this within the medical community. :rolleyes:

Strong voice, good writing. I loved his music from the late '60s. "Young Girl", "Woman, Woman" were good, but "Lady Willpower" was my fave.

Kirby Puckett was a baseball player with a lifetime batting average of .318 to put in perspective...no one has hit the ball as consistent since Ted Williams.

Actor, singer Dana Reeve was Christopher Reeve's wife. She diagnosed with lung cancer in August and died yesterday. Her sister owns two local restaurants here on Cape Cod.

She stood by Christopher Reeve for 10 years that he was a quadriplegic, being his caretaker, becoming a huge activist for charity, all the time having a smile on her face and a great sense of humor.

Their 13 yr old son lost his father and now his mother, both within a span of 17 months :shake:

My wife told me that Superman's wife died ... and all I could think of was Lois Lane/Margot Kidder. Didn't know they ever got married though. :rolleyes: Until the TV news last night ... I don't think that I had ever heard of Dana Reeve. Really sad ... especially for the young boy they left behind. :(
