According to that site, it would most likely be a '66. While I cannot make out the grille pattern, the headlamps are said to be flush with the "header panel" for 1967. If a header panel is the panel where the 'oldsmobile' lettering is located on the nose on the vintage photo/sketch, then I would say the car I shot this morning is identical to the one in the sketch (a '66).

"1966 and 1967 Toronados shared much in the way of styling. The major visual difference was the grille, which consisted a crosshatch pattern for 1967, and horizontal slats only for 1966. Also, the concealed headlamps became flush with the header panel for '67"

This should confirm it. The photo below is a 1967, and indeed the headlight doors are flush with the 'header panel' (learned a new term today, woohoo!).

I personally think the '66 front end is cooler.

Cool.

A nice 66 is on my wish list for some day.

A 70 GT too, along with another 79-85(preferably the oh-so elusive 80-81 XSC).

Would be nice to hit the lottery .....

BTW .....

While that encyclopedia was correct in regards to the front ends 66 vs 67 .....

In general when it comes to stuff ... they don't always tell the whole story & some of their info is clearly wrong or some stuff will seem more based on opinion(s).

Is no better most of the time when it comes to accuracy & facts.

Gotta agree with you there. My 67 Camaro had so many options not listed or data verified by number, it was a nightmare confirming what came on it and what didn't. I think most of the car manufacturers at the time were experimenting with so many different styles and engines, that the data collection process is rarely accurate.

Huh.

I'm really suprised no one else has anything to say about this.

You can pretty much look up ANY car ......

And the ___TRUE___ facts just don't jive(shoot they think a CV sport isn't all that different than a Marauder) & that is just the BEGINING.(sure I love CV Sports - but that is just BS)

I find the Toronado discussion to be particularly amusing ......

It almost rates up there with the supercharger wars.

And for the record .....

I ___ DO___ believe 100% in the LOWER numbers posted there.

:P

Most still have still have NFC what they're talking about tho.

There's not enough time in the day to fix all that's wrong.

Remember .....

I'm NOT just talking about a Toronado here ..... the issue goes WAAAAY beyond that.

There's MUCH wrong there.

What ... no one even mentions the dayum dump truck in rush hour traffic holding up the entire center lane. :dunno: Oh yeah, the '67 Toronado is very nice. :D And someone tell that Volvo to get back in line.

Is that Jay Lenos twin turbo Toronado ?

Yes it's got a Corvette C5 chassis and twin turbo LS1. Was featured on the show "Rides" I believe.

Highway 15 southbound, between Henri Bourassa and Metropolitan, near Cote Vertu ?!!:)

TripleTransAm

Nope. Highway 40 Eastbound, between the two 15s just before Stinson (in fact, the Toro is taking that exit for Rockland, before the overpass over the Mont-Royal train tracks). I'm in the leftmost lane ready to take 15 north.

It's a confusing shot because I took it off my rear-view mirror, so everything's inverted. (ie. the Toronado becomes RWD, etc. ;) )
