All note.
Asked dealer about doing stat-said 1hr+
and might void warrenty ...ho hum...

Finally I installed the stat and tried a new trick.
DID NOT DRAIN GOLD AINTIFREEZE !!!
1st. Clamped off the three rubber hoses.
2nd. Slid hoses off housing.
3rd. Put new Reinhart, Ford stat. in housing.
4th. Re-installed and done.

10 minutes Little or no spill and all is
well !!!

i must of missed something , what is the advantage to change the themostat?

In your area of the woods, I don't think I'd worry about it. A cooler engine makes more power, and with the DR chip and plugs, it gives a little edge.

thanks : it does get up it to the 70 s once in awhile , maybe only for a few weeks and thats it . there have be times where has gotten in the 80 s not to often . if you dont like the heat this is the place to live . average temp in summer mid 50 s and in the winter mid 30s

Is the Antifreeze really Gold? Mine is definitely green. Picked mine up late June.

Ken,
In our M's I understand we use 2 kinds of antifreeze.
Gold (premium)- lasts 100,000+ miles.
Green(regular) - 30,000 miles or so. I think (ck. your manual)

All early builds got the green. Newer builds have gold.

It's apparently not a 300A/300B thing...My 300A was built in Sept, I have the Premium Gold...

I'm thinking October builds and beyond got the gold. Anything earlier got green. Correct me if I'm wrong?
