GM Sweetens Buyout Deal with New Toyotas
(2006-03-22) — General Motors today sweetened its $35,000 buyout deal for 113,000 hourly workers at GM and Delphi, saying that each employee who leaves the companies by the end of March will also get the keys to a brand new 2007 Toyota Sayonara SUV.
The number one American automaker lost $10.6 billion last year, which according to an unnamed United Auto Workers (UAW) spokesman, is only about $100,000 for each union worker on the payroll.
The UAW hailed the agreement as “the ultimate tribute to the organized labor movement.”
“For years, GM has been offering incentives to get consumers to drive their cars out of the showrooms,” said the UAW source, “It’s only fair that they would give us incentives to drive their employees out of the factories.”

And some people still holler about the national debt. That's only $28,000/person.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, there is not going to an American automobile manufacturer left in 10 years. Adios GM.
Will the last one out please shut off the lights?:(

Everytime I turn around there is an anouncement that another Auto Importer is building a mfg. plant in this country at the cost of umptyboque billion dollars and they begin selling World Class cars made in America by American workers at competitive prices against the crap our domestic mfg. put out. This is not a new phenomenon. Surely we have grown up in the capitolistic ideal. Where is the mystery here? Just wondering. Dennis:confused:

Couldn't they just make a crappier vehicle and get their money back?
I can't find any pics or anything on a Toyota Sayonara.
Why on Earth would they give them a vehicle w/ a name that screams 'get the heck out of here'?
