My dad had open heart surgery almost 10 years ago. Quadruple bypass. He was 45. It's a pretty rough surgery, no doubt...but you'd be amazed at the things they can do these days. Good luck to you and your family.

Make sure he eats properly after he comes out of surgery. Whatever diet the doc's put him on, make sure he follows it perfectly, low fat, low salt, etc. He'll come out feeling like a million bucks, and want to go back to his old ways of eating (like my Dad) but he cant. He's got a new lease on life...so help him protect it by eating as good as he can for as long as possible.

I know how he feels, I hate hospitals. No place for a sick person to be. Cut him some slack. He probably feels like a pin cushion and they won't let him sleep. Good advice on the diet.
