Morning All,

Just picked up my new MM300A yesterday, and can proudly say I am happy to have joined your group.
On a 5 mile romp around the neighborhood, I got alot of stares and a number of fart-piping ricers trying to manuever through traffic to get next to me. Maybe they were hoping for a little rub off magic.
My question is this. While my MM really turns on at around 3,000 RPMs it won't hardly spin a tire from a dead stop. Is this a common complaint, and if so how do I correct it, and if not what are your suggestions for me too look for?
I only have 230 miles on engine which I know makes it in its infant stage, so maybe it needs to break in.
Also, any suggestions on proper breaking-in would be appreciated, as well as when you guys and gals recommend the first oil change.
Nice to be with you guys, and will eagerly await your responses.
Have a great weekend,
-Mike

Welcome, Capt., I remember my first days of ownership as if it was yesterday. Come to think of it, it was only ten months ago...Jeeze.

If you can fight off the temptation, put a few miles on the car before tinkering, it will loosen up. By 3000 miles or so, there will be a little more to play with. If you are hapy with that, save your money. If you want more, and believe me here is more, are few mods are so common among members, they should have been standard equipment. Chip, gears, torque converter, fine tune stuff, and so on. Poke around here, read some sigs, check the FAQ, and if RF Overlord invites you over for a BBQ, pass.

Or, just get in your car and drive fast (in the opposite direction!!!).

As Sarge mentioned, the engine does break-in nicely. Having just crossed the 2000 mile mark myself, I did notice on my drive back from work this afternoon that the car was much looser, power-wise. I will second the suggestion you wait a while and see how the car opens up, and then plot your course of action from there.

If at that point you find yourself still in need of a low-RPM fix, consider the mods that will enhance that area of performance: diff gears, converter and chip (not in that order).

At 2000 miles, I'm still on the fence. With the low percentage of time I'm driving the car where it would be fun to hot-dog from a standing start (ie. alone in the car without wife and kid), I find I'm not missing much as far as low end performance goes: regular driving is actually quite pleasant, the motor performs quite linearly at low throttle openings. But each week I've owned the car, there has been 1 occasion where I've had to goose the throttle for a downshift at speeds anywhere from 20 mph to 40 mph, and each time I'm further amazed at the increased performance. Last time (yesterday), it damned nearly freaked me out at how violently it shoved me back in my seat after the kickdown.

Regarding stares: today at work, my ex-Director comes over and says she's been wondering who owned that car. After the many compliments on the car, I leave work and am tailed by a Police-Interceptor-turned-taxi (wtf?) who finally comes up alongside to give me the thumbs-up. Ditto from a passing 2002 Town Car Cartier limo (unstretched), and then finally another Crown Vic taxi with thumbs-up as I pass the airport area. Haven't had this much fun since purchasing the 1998 Trans Am way back when....

SergntMac - I noticed a marauder decal or emblem in your signature. It's really sharp. Is that just a visual for your signature or is it a actual product that could be purchased? Also thanks to all of you who have responded to my post from yesterday.
Everyone have a great day.
Thanks
-Mike
