"California Emissions System"

Here's a question for some of you more knowledgable folks out there. The so-called "California Emissions System" is listed under the "Optional Equipment" list on the window sticker of all the MM's I've laid eyes on.

Is this just because I live in Jersey... the place where (by law) you can't even swap mufflers now??

Or is it standard on every MM. If so, why is it listed as Optional???

I asked before if there was an "export" version of the MM. I asked because I thought it might be a bit less restrictive in the exhaust department.

Any comments or input would be greatly appreciated.

I think that jersey gets the ca. emmisions too.

I wanna know if there are MM's out there that dont have a bunch of California CRAP on them. If so, I'll drive to some other state and buy the car there.

I don't have my window sticker in front of me, but I believe this is a "no cost option." Since most cars were dealer ordered, they most likely had this on all cars ordered. Again, I don't think the Ca. stuff had much to add to the already contained EPA stuff.

On the Order guides it states which States get CA emmisions automatically, and then there are "border" States for which CA emissions are optional. Tell your dealer you want him to specify no CA emissions. Not all marauders show CA emissions on the window sticker

Thank you RCSignals... I just got back from my dealer and had quite the argument with the sales manager. Eventually, I walked out with my order form reflecting: "Delete California Emissions". I also just got an "A-Plan" from a friend... so I pissed off the sales personnel with that too.
