They were left hand thread on one side.

What trait, almost unique to old Chrysler products, contributed to broke wheel studs? Lugs on the left side of the car were left handed twist, lugs on the right side of the car were right hand twist. One side clock-wise, the other counter clock-wise.

My '66 Charger had that, until I broke one off...... then I changed all the left studs to "right" studs. I can't imagine what's Chrysler was thinking.....

Both sides twisted "off" towards the rear of the car, and "on" towards the front of the car, supposedly to counteract centrifugal force that may affect a loose lug nut.

Stupid...

Changed mine too, on my '65 Coronet 500.

Ya, this is the way me and my friends 66 Valiant is, we are going to change that though (so far all of the lug nuts have broken off even if we turn them the correct way). We would also like to change to a 5 lug by 4.5 inch bolt pattern instead the stupid 5 by 4 it has now.

Also does anyone know of a good source of 66 A-Body parts, like body panels? Everything I seem to find is for 67 and up.

Changed mine too, on my '65 Coronet 500.

And in the late 60s the engineers looked out the window and didn't see wheels falling off the GM and Ford cars.
