Aside from the hood ornament, what one feature on the '50-'56 Pontiacs allowed you to know it wasn't a Chevy from a long distance away?

Yes it is the chrome molding on the center of the hood. Approx 6 " wide.

Believe I have seen them occasionally called "Strato Streaks" or something like that in some old magazine ads for Pontiacs in the fifites.:D

Yes it is the chrome molding on the center of the hood. Approx 6 " wide.
Ding, ding, ding ..... we have two winners. Correct. Pontiacs had the twin chrome strips that ran the length of the hood. But I don't recall any being as wide as 6 inches .... closer to about 3-4 inches, I think. Some even had them on the trunk as well. :up:
