Why was the Chaparel 2J banned?

Had a seperate engine(s) that drove two exhaust fans that sucked the car down on the track. Was banned because it won the pole position in 3 out of 4 tries.

He is right, it had a separate engine to create the ground effects. It was a snow-mobile engine. It also had an aluminum Chevy (427 if I remember correctly) Besides the extra engine, it had sliding Lexan sheets of plastice to create a seal with the ground. I actually saw it run in 1970 at Laguna Seca in Monterey, Ca. Very interesting and it set a super lap time. Unfortunately, it didn't make the race because of a problem with the Chevy engine. Vic Elford was the driver.
