The rights to the first GT500 went on the block at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.

A lucky soul laid down $600,000 plus auction fees for the rights to own the first '07 Shelby GT500 offered for sale this summer.:awe:

Also, the 2006 FOOSE Mustang Coupe, Serial #001 sold for $167,400 at the 2006 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Information is in the June 2006 issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords.

It should be noted the 600K went towards a charity.

Part of your statement is true, it states that "proceeds" from the auction went directly to the Carroll Shelby Childrens Foundation.

My understanding of proceeds is profit, not the entire amount.

Well I just saw the replay on Speed and Edsil Ford said that 100% of the proceeds went to the charity. So, yes some one donated $600,000 to a childrens foundation and in return will recieve the first GT 500 mustang... doesn't sound to stupid to me. It's a great cause and a great tax right off with a chance to be the first on the block to own a cool car.
