Here's what I'm doing to save gas. I'm increasing the MPG of my Crown Vic daily driver (no marauder in near future either <sob>). The gas in my town sucks, combined with high heat and humidity I dropped from 18 mpg in MN to 12 mpg here in Columbia, MO. That was 2 years ago. Today I am at 16 mpg for alot of heavyfooting and about 18 for moderate driving (lot's of high speed stop and go... I can't drive easy if I want to live). I'm currently on MM.net because I recall someone here having an air deflector/dam somewhere in their car that helped their gas mileage. I believe that was one of you MM guys.. back on topic: If you would like to help out then lower your burden on their gas by increasing efficiency and that will help out since it effectively increases supply (if we all need less then they will need to lower price to stimulate demand to increase profit). I'm also helping others I know to fix their gas mileages. Keep it up and maybe we can see 2.59 by the end of summer? Maybe?

I believe this is a ProGuard offered by Dennis Reinhart.

This is an old email from about a year ago, if you noticed it said the gas in his area was $2.79 a gallon for regular.

That's what it is around my area. Gets to about $2.65 every now and again. Jumped up to $2.85 yesterday though.

My area is over $3.00 a gallon for regular, must be because I'm close to Philly.

We are at $3.19 for 93 or we were a couple of days ago. May be more now. If you really want less expensive gasoline let the clowns you elected know that we need to develope more domestic drilling, more refinery capacity and let market forces push prices to the level that alternative energy ideas for transportation and heating are less expensive than oil. Did you know that the amount of profits that BIG OIL is making just about matches the amount of State and Federal taxes those oil companies collect for government to throw away......who is ripping whom off? Just a thought. Dennis

Due to the rising gas prices I have taken effective measurements into increasing my MPG rating so I do not have to get hurt as often at the pump. To see all the measurements I have taken layed out in an image format please click the following link:

$3.19 is cheap. I filled up today @ 1.29 per litre which works out to about $4.35 US per gallon. This is in a country where we don't import oil, but where various levels of government collect huge tax revenue on the sale of gasoline. Sheesh.

I sent out my 10.

I'd like someone to show me how to tune a car to save me $2.00 a gallon.

I wrote about this somewhere on this forum a year ago.
I basically said that if we stopped buying fuel from those companies
that import Crude from Persian wells we can have an impact
on the Persion Oil Producing countries.

We don't need crude from them.
We can buy all we want from Venezuela, and its a LOT cheaper.
We have other sources and places to get the crude we need.

The people in Alaska are laughing at all of us right now.
Each citizen there gets paid over $1000/yr from Crude Oil profits.
They get their fuel for their cars practically FREE !!!

Don't listen to us.
The answer is not more wells or more refineries.
When the oil runs out, its out.

Guys, emails like these are at the best spam and at worst denial of service attempts to slow down or stop email servers with scads of unnecessary emails. Any email that urges you to "send this to ten of your friends" or " send this to everyone you know" falls into these categories. Please don't forward or send copies out.

Agreed ^^^^^

The ONLY way WE can effect gas prices is to change the DEMAND curve. The SUPPLY curve will respond INVERSELY and we will experience a SHIFT. Basic economic theory. Our demand for fuel must decrease (dramatically) to see truely 'cheap' prices. I know my pay hasen't increased at the rate of fuel prices. How is this country going to function if we allow fuel prices to escalate at this rate. Remember, the cost of gasoline effects the cost of all shipped goods, which is practically EVERYTHING these days.

I am using my one day a week to work at home to save on fuel consumption. We as a united group CAN control the cost of any item we choose. The key is we all have to be United. So I guess it will never happen.....

It truely is much more complicated, but basic economic theory does apply...

My post was to pass along what I thought was an interesting way for fighting back against high fuel prices. This was the core of my post and nothing more. If all you got out of my post was an attempt to pass spam, then I apologize. I should have edited the e-mail before reprinting it.

I have edited my initial post.

I'm sick of people whining about the price of gas. Just this morning Matt Laur on the Today show called it "the nation's fuel crisis". It ain't a crisis. We're using more than ever and we can get as much as we want. And, we pay less than 90% of the world does for fuel. How is that a crisis?

I'm using as much as I can... I figure once I use it all there will be none left to argue about and people will move onto more important things (terrorism, FEMA, Iran, etc). Fire up the big blocks!

Also, once all the gas is gone the gov't will lose all kinds of tax revenue and they'll have to lay off some of the idiots that interfere with every aspect of our lives.

I believe that we are screwed. Big oil is going to make a certain percentage not matter what the "supply and demand" is. China is going to supply all the damand needed to give them a reason to keep pump prices up for a long time to come. Besides, if you are going to worry about MPG and cost per gallon, don't buy a 2 ton V8 powered vehicle. Hell, my old truck only gets 14 MPG but you know what? When the gauge says "empty", I put some more in.

I have a (stupid) question.
Gas prices cheap going up and up, but I can always find a case of motor oil on sale at Walmart (and similar stores).
So what's the deal with that.
