In 1966 the Hertz Corporation and Carroll Shelby produced 1000 Shelby Mustangs. Together, they made these high-performance, special-edition Ford Mustangs available to car rental customers. And the car rental business was never the same.

40 years later, the thrill is back. Introducing the Shelby GT-H—a one-of-a-kind limited edition, available exclusively through Hertz. It’s just one of the many exhilarating cars that you can reserve from the Hertz Fun Collection. And unlike the 1966 Shelby, this one comes equipped with SIRIUS Satellite Radio, like all Fun Collection vehicles.

The Shelby GT-H will be available for reservations in mid-May at the following airport locations:

Hold that thought for a while...I heard that the next special Mustang project will be the Boss in 2007 or 2008. Same 5.4 motor that the GT-500 Shelby is getting minus the blower, good for 400 hp. If this is going to come to pass, dump your GT like I plan on, and get the Boss instead. Thats why I havent even reflashed mine with the handheld yet, not a single performance mod till i find out the Boss isnt gonna happen. I hope its more than a rumor...

I'd really love to pick up a Boss in 07 to accompany the 70 that's sitting in my yard right now. Something tells me I won't have anywhere near the money I'll need to have though. Oh well, maybe I'll just have to pick one up used sometime I guess. I hate being the only person in my family AND my circle of friends to have never owned a brand-spankin-new car, oh well, I guess my tastes are just a little too expensive.
