It it possible to take the steering wheel badge off? If so, how? Is it attached to the airbag assembly? Any pointers would be nice.

Marc, Might be a better idea to talk w/ CAR Automotive and get the stick on top of badge. Dennis

It's either glued or clip-fitted in. I hear it's quite thin though, and easily dented. I can imagine trying to remove it will most likely damage it, even if you are really careful it will bend.

We'll see if anyone has removed it before...

If it's a sticker, the dental floss or fishin line trick might work without damage. I'd pull the pos on the bat 1st. Don't want an airbag indaface!

I thought you always remove the negative (-) cable first and install it last so there is no spark.

Car electroncs guys do positive first and last due to capacitance.....

Either way will keep you from getting a face fulla airbag!!!

The plastic badge is held in place by a couple of fold over tabs on the back side. You must remove the airbag cover to have access to the tabs.

You are correct about how many tabs are there. However, I would not take the chance on pulling the air bag assy apart to do this. I came across a GM that had a deployed driver air bag. After close inspection on the inside, the horn pad is in the way. I was able to access the button at the 11 o'clock position with a pen knife. After the button is removed, forget about putting it back in.

This information may help my fellow members who have aftermarket buttons from either CAR Motorsports or Colex Inc.
