Friends tommorrow I go in surgery for a P3,basicly they're going to remove my tonsels and pull any loose tissue up over the openings then laser etch their initails in the back of my throat.I've been warned my life will suck for the next 2 weeks.
So if somehow I find my way to this keyboard and type out something that is not the usual c!@p I type, well it's the DRUGS!
When this is over hopefully my wife will get a good nights sleep!
I sleep great,BTW,but she can't stand the snooring.
Thanks for the well wishes in advance!!!!:D :D :D

I went the somnoplasty route a few years ago - 3 treatments. Helped but didn't cure the snoring. Tonsils still intact but they took my "punching bag" out.
Good luck, Lance!

I had the same deal last year. Yep it sucks. Ice-cream actually makes it worse. Stay away from ANYTHING with citric acid (juice and stuff). I found my best comfort in lukewarm instant mashed potatoes cooked with chicken broth instead of water. Also, mint chewing gum helped ALOT!
You'll be functioning in a day or 2. Save the drugs for sleepy-time (that's the worst time of day).
I usually keep an eye on this board most of the day (dual monitors rule), so PM if ya need to.
After it heals up, you'll wonder how you ever lived before!!!!

Good luck on this. Believe the success rate is around 55-60% for effective sleep. If not, you will need a good cpap machine.

No CPAP for me ,I don't have apnia the sleep study proved it.I just snoore like a freight train so my succes rate should be in the 75-100% range.
Besides I sleep great.
BTW why am I still here?
They pushed my time back to 1pm!

Well,I'm home.
The doctors looked me over and decided not to pull my tonsels after all. This, pain wise,is a good thing. We talked about this before I went under so it was no surprise.
They did cut my uvala off,at the roots it looks like to me,and I have a picket fence of stiches acrooss the top of my throat.
I'm saving the heavy meds for later in the week, just in case.I've been warned that 3-5 day out, when the real scabbing starts, will be no fun.
I can't remember breathing through my nose so much in my life and keeping my throat wet is a PAIN:( .
But so far so good.
Thanks all.:D

Cepacol spray helps with the pain. I got oxycodone when my uvula was removed. Do you have to sleep sitting up? I did. Once you're all healed and this is forgotten, don't accidentally breath through your mouth while chewing food. Your "punching bag" isn't there anymore to block the passage! Wishing you an uneventful and speedy recovery, Lance.

Sleeping sitting up is'nt too much of a problem for me,because I sleep mostly on my back anyway.
Thanks for the thoughts Mary.

Lance - how are you feeling??
Very good,thank you.
All the pain has gone down to just a nagging sore throat now.
No pain meds.
Follow up on the 5th of June, but all is well now.
The snooring is gone too.
