Since the weather has been nice, the windows have been down. I've noticed a strange "jingling" sound coming from the passenger side rear of the car. I went under the car but couldnt figure out where the sound was coming from, I tapped on the fuel lines, etc, but couldnt get the car to make the sound while parked, its only when I'm driving. It sounds almost like someone is jingling keys next to me car. I dont have anything in my trunk that would be making the sound. I'm clueless. Anyone else have this sound, and if so...WHAT IS IT?

Check your overhead flip down compartment for loose stuff. I had a sound that I couldn't isolate and it seemed to be coming from the passenger rear area. It was a 'beep, beep, beep, ..." intermittant sound that I had trouble locating. Turns out that it was one of my FRS radios in the overhead giving a low power signal. Funny thing is that the sound seemed to be coming from anywhere but the overhead.

check your psgr side exhaust tip, it may be just touching something or rubbing.. this happens if you've been especially naughty... :)

check the trunk too, your spare could be loose.

Without a more exact description (tinny, deep, 3 keys on a key ring, Schneider like loaded key ring, etc etc) its hard to narrow down.

Emergency Brake Cable? My first choice too, and Chuck's usually right on, so, check your emergency brake cable system for something that rubs as the car rolls.

My second thought was the OEM centercaps. They are spring loaded, and the springs (more like "C" clips") tend to get tired and loose. If you can spin them by hand on the wheel, they need to be tuned up. Pull the cap, work out the "c" spring and open it up for more tension against the centercap "fingers", and restore.

My only reservation here, is that I would call the centercap noise a "clicking" when they get too loose.

Carry on, gents.

Thanks, Mac. The centercap was my second thought, but I didn't mention it for the same reason you gave.

ditto w/ shakes on the spare. I've had it loose and it's a clinging noise that drove me nuts.

maybe someone put some curb feelers on your car while you weren't looking :P

I had a noise comming from my trunk area but it sounded like it was by the rear pass. door....it turns out it was the carpet on the side rear fender in the trunk....the velcro was rubbing the trunk arm....drove me nutts for two days before I found it.

Tallboy: I recognize Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday in your photo. Anyone who hasn't seen Tombstone is missing a great cowboy flick.
