View Full Version : Mustang GT500 Imposter ???

Twice this week, I have caught a glimpse of a Screaming Yellow Mustang that appears to have GT500 sidebar markings on it (in Northern Virginia). It's got a black convertible top, raised hood with wide black stripes on it. I thought that the GT500 was not gonna be released until this summer and even then ... only at ridiculous prices. I am gonna have to get a closer look at this car ... seems like an "imposter" to me. Maybe the sidebar says "GT300". :rolleyes: Didn't know such a thing existed. ;) Could this be the Mustang equivalent of the "Type R" stickers on Hondas??? :rofl:

You can buy those GT numbered stripes at any Mustang supply house. If you go to a custome decal maker they can put whatever number you want after the GT. You're probably huntin' a faker..... imagine that.

I agree. There's ALOT of V6/GT 'stangs running around here with the Shelby stripes. One of the dealerships has them as a dealer add-on. My brother went a different route and did the '69 Boss stripes on his '05 GT.

Maybe a Roush Mustang - I've seen a couple and if they're moving fast ...:rolleyes: ... you could be mistaken!

Just saw a factory GT500 out here in Dearborn. Took some pics, now I have to figure out how to get them off my phone. Sweet looking ride!

...yea, the GT500's are a dime-a-dozen around Dearborn. All test bucks on the road at this point though.

Got a little closer look at the Mustang today .... the sidebar stripe says "GT300". Very nice looking car; but definitely not a GT500 and no "SHELBY" across the rear. :rolleyes:
