Though he hasn't checked in here since the end of March, you could ask Jim Spradling - http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/member.php?u=482 I know he's in that line of business.

What, exactly, does pre-paid legal services mean / do? Do you pay a retainer, or pay a flat fee up front????

Inquiring minds want to know.

I would never recommend these to anyone. Period.

The quality of lawyers that I have seen/experienced is frightening.

You get what you pay for.

I woundn't want cheap parachutes, brakes, sea food, scuba gear, helmets, or lawyers.

When your a$$ is on the line, spend what you feel it's worth.

My company offers access to Pre-paid legal services as part of the benefits package. For a relatively small monthly fee, it allows you to use the services to draft up to 3 legal documents and/or review 3 legal documents over the course of a year. There's more to the program and I can't remember whether it was 3+3 or just 3 documents. Either way, I didn't opt for the service. Guess it depends on how much or how frequently you need legal advice.
