Okay,
So I have an appointment to have the 4.10's installed today along with the Ford Racing Performance Parts aluminum cover, and i'm wondering which of the two lubes that I have available I should use.:o
My choices are:
Red Line synthetic 75/90NS
Ford Motorsport synthetic 75/140
And of course the good ole Ford friction modifier.
Opinions please.:help:

I've heard the Red Line is excellent, but Ford supplies Motorcraft 75W-140 with the axle TSB kit, so that's what I went with...

RF Overlord ... IFord supplies Motorcraft 75W-140 with the axle TSB kit, so that's what I went with...
Second that.

Additionally ... When I mod'ed the RAR ( and installed a TracLok ), the local, friendly FoMoCo service department indicated that ( and recommended ) Motorcraft's 75W-140 should be used.

BTW ... There's also a special friction modifier ( Motorcraft ) that is recommended for use with the synthetic gear lube - XL-7.
*This is also what was included in the TSB kit that was used on my vehicle.

I used Redline when I had my 4.10's installed over a year ago. Didn't have to use any friction modifier and have had no problems.

Ooops! That's the only info I could contribute in this thread. It's become my signature advice here on MM.net.

From experience, without this, I heard a kind of rubbing sound when taking tight corners. I was told it wasn't a concern and to get the friction modifier next time I was at the shop. I did. Noise went away.
