Yesterday was the second birthday of the FruitPunch. For her birthday she got Ford Racing Dual Mode Mufflers(gefracing.com-$296.00) on her Cobra exhaust. She is one sassy hip swinging peice of work now. she likes em. So do I. Civil but with a little edge at idle and comfortable around town and a little nasty under boost. Just right for a gal with her catch me if you can attitude. One interesting side note-when the artist (and I mean artist-if you are within a 2 day drive of Huff Muffler in Plant city, Fl. go there.) Justin removed the stock muffler on the right there was a piece -about 1/2 of the media from the right cat stuck in the inlet. The other half was in the pipe. The left cat was fine. Any ideas. These are what I believe are Magnaflow Cats that came with the DR Cobra exhaust system. They have about 2.5K miles on them.

find out what kind of warranty is available on them. They should not break up like that.

I'd check the warranty on them but if your state doesn't check for emmissions out the tailpipe (you didn't hear this from me :D ) I'd remove the rest on the right and all on the left. Less restriction(s).

I have a sign, right behind my counter that states the following CLICK HERE AND READ BOTH PAGES (http://www.car-sound.com/04failures.asp)

For the most part....Net/Net...a CAT doesn't just "go bad" or "break up"....something causes it.

Todd, I really appreciate the info. there is no damage to the casing, the element is in 2 pieces, broken in half, it is not discolored or burned and appears absolutely normal except broken in half. Mystery to me. The car is and has been running great. The media in the left cat is normal, in place and whole. No discoloration. The car was ass tuned by Lidio with his laptop in Feb. about 1500 miles ago. The condition of the cat at that time is unknown. Any other ideas, anyone? Is there there a problem running with one cat element in and one out? Thanks Dennis

Dennis,
The fuel system adjustments are totally separate entities from bank to bank on your car. Hence, each will adjust for the different back-pressure/flow independently. For the short term and under normal driving (Read: NOT SEBRING!), it will be fine. I would address this issue however before taking a long trip or going whole-hog racing. If it would have just blown out both cores . . .

Best luck,

J
