I had to tell someone about this ---

I just (one hour ago) bought a 1985 F150 2WD shortbed with a 351 Windsor, C6, 4:10's, recent body/paint, newly redone interior, etc... for $2,000. I've been looking for a truck exactly this way for years to use as a hot rod project.

I'm online now ordering the 3"/4" lowering kit and sway bars... SOLID!

390, new c6, Holley 4 and 9 inch rear end. The engine and drive train would be nice for a project car.

One think about this year it had the side bed tool box just behind the passenger door.

I've got a 1986 Bronco in the garage, 460 EFI. Needs a wiring harrness. Nobody makes them for a 460. Looks like I will have to go to the junk yard, find a 1996 truck, gut whatever I can get of the body harness, and make the rest of it.

I've got a Chev Sport pick up with a 350 and a 5 speed. This truck has a short bed and really hauls. All black of course. John

yea, i figured this would be the perfect platform to start with. It's all original as far as the drivetrain goes... so a rebuild of the 351 (maybe to about 350hp) and a TCI StreetFighter C6 are in the plans over the next few months. It'll be a nice daily driver to work... only 3 miles each way.

And as for you LML.... my other truck i have owned since 16... a 91 F-SuperDuty 4x4 w/ a 445ci diesel and Dana 60's front & rear (4:10's). Back then the SuperDuty only came in chasis cab configurations with dual rear wheels. I swapped in a single rear wheel Dana setup and planted a longbed on the rear frame area. 35" bfg's under the factory SuperDuty suspension.

Good Luck With The Project!

Sounds like you did your homework, and thats the most important thing. and you have ambition! congrats on the buy

Looks like a few of us have our hands full, but the biggest question is, whats MAD-3R's Plans? hope he takes his time and figures out somthing cool to do. I wish him the best of luck. dispite his sad tale, it might be a happy ending!

I just heard Vans are becoming the rage again
Two years ago I had an '78 E150 short wheelbase van 351W C6 Factory aluminum wheels, Captains chairs, "sport" steering wheel as used in Mustangs of the time, privacy glass, opening windows in rear doors, no window in side door. (the van came this way, it was some kind of "street van" package they had) Solid. It went to the crusher though, except the engine and transmission of course.

As Mr T. would say "I pitty the fool who don't think vans are cool"

The A Team's van looked good on TV

True... that black and gray GMC with the red 'hurricane' wheels was trick as heII. All those guns under the rear seat were even cooler.
