I'm wondering if the "aluminum" looking dash and door panel trim and shifter bezel ( except Marty..of course) is a decal over the plastic. If so, anyone know if it's available by the sheet?

good call.
I'd love to replace it with a carbon fiber decal, but I suck when it comes to decals...

Rich are you talking bout the dot matrix? If so it might be a Hydrographic film and not available via sheet. Try this place they might help.

Yeah, that's it dot matrix, aluminum, carbon fiber ... whatever it is. I'd like some matching material... for a project.

I wouldn't admit this in public, but I actually like the wood-grain trim in the GM better than that faux high-tech dot-matrix crap.

I think it's printed. I have accidentally scratched it. It's not a decal.
I have never seen decal material anywhere close.

I would be very interested in getting a steering wheel with the wood cutouts top and bottom, but covered in the dot matrix or carbon fiber. Maybe chrome trim rings around the wheel where the wood and leather connect? That would be sweet.

When i did my multiple gauges project, i had to work and dremel the long central dash moulding through at a couple of places. It look like a thin aluminum sheet moulded and pressed against a one eight" ABS black like structural plastic back moulding. At places though, the aluminum part is folded and indented to help for rigidity.
IMO, it would be very very hard to separate one from the other without destroying them in the process.

I removed the trim and its a thin piece of aluminum that can easily be bent or dented. I had 2 dents in it when I bought the car so Removed the dash panel, undid the flanges that hold the trim on and rolled out the dents.
Its very fragile

I have the same dot matrix on my '89 t-bird, on dash and steering wheel, anyone else know of any Ford or Merc. products that have this. I think it looks pretty cool!
