so i might acutally get a marauder.
i went to a dealer about 30 minutes away and had a really good experience, test drove it, and was surprised at how nimble the car is...i didn't notice much of a change between it and my honda (thats a good thing) and never felt it was ***bersome like my mom's buick lesabre.
anyways, even though they arent moving it is still a hard sell.....$28,000 at the end of the day.
now i just hope the loan comes through.
my mom says its too much. my father says its a good price. i tell them that i'm old enough to piss money down the toilet as i see fit :)

he showed me his price sheet and it had on there that his invoice price was 32555...seemeed high to me but it made negoiating really hard

28 k is a good deal. I wish the local dealers around my home would have given me a deal like that. I drove 800 miles to get one for 27,500 and surely wouldn't have done it for 500 difference.
Congrats. Enjoy it.

Paid $33 and some odd change for all you see in signature,
$28 seems fair, also they didn't charge me for the 7000 we were over on mileage on a Navigator lease.

Fat: Just in case, there are dealers here in NY that are down to $28K and below. I think you are in NJ (correct??). Come up here if neewd be....
the fat bastid
05-03-2003, 08:17 PM
i sure am in nj isnt it on the...<checks location, sees it blank> oh, heh
i saw an add for 27,500 in pa but it was one of those 'only .1% of anyone on earth can qualify for any of this' what have you in up there?
RF: thanks man for the reasurance. i'm nervous about the price because , like mr.delorean, its my first new car. haggling is much different then a used car.
god i guess i got the deal of the life time,im a 12 year tech at the same dealer and they had a used marauder with 4500 miles, sticker said 26995,and employee price was 100 dollars over there cost in trade,my price 20,100 checked the car out on oasis and ford site and even talked with the original own who trader for a stock cv,said it rode to rough for him 51 years old,so is the car going to keep it's value??? hope they do not make the 2004 model phil

fat: the ad was in the NY Post (the locals will know that that is not exactly a high brow paper) and ad indicated "100% credit approval, etc., etc." So, maybe this is not one of the places that is jerking you along. The prices was $26,995.00 in April 4, 2004.
Check your PM an I will send you the dealer's name (I don't want to run afoul of the vendor rules here). And, I have no relationship with this dealer.

jrzygrl: Here is one step further along: Call Alan Pinter @ the Bienstock Group (they do the order fulfillment for Mercury). He is a nice guy and I am sure he will hook you up (trust me, I know). His number is either 248- 643-8438 or 248-458-5122 (I can't tell from my notes which it is and it may be either one).

Thanks, I'll give him a try. If I was really nice I'd ask for an XL
in exchange and give it to my husband for Father's day.....NAH.
I had a hard time getting the jacket from the dealership to begin with. By the way FAT congrats on the purchase!! I'm from north too...Linden/Rahway actually.

Lynn, you should have received a post card in the mail from Mercury about two weeks after purchasing your car. All you had to do waas verify your address and send it back, I got my jacket about a week after I sent the card back. If you didn't I would call Mercury.

time to re-threadjack this thing.
anyways, the loan got approved and the car should be here soon!
although last night i had a dream where i was driving in my marauder and it was raining so i flew off the road and died because i didnt have t/c. man, talk about making it hard on myself...
anyways,
i acutally saw my mm on ebay before i bought it, thats how i found out about it. i went and bought it for $28, then bidded on it for $27...just to see if that would get the reserve. no luck.
i told the guy when i was picking up the car and everything but they still didnt take down the auction. now it ended and i get an email from them saying 'we've had alot of interset in them, and to be fair to all bidders we are letting you all know we will sell them for $28'
bah!!!!
i donno what to think about this but it seems shifty.

clarification deemed nessacary! correct spelling isnt!
heres the point by point story:
1) went to local dealer, got treated like trash. left
2) came home, checked ebay...noticed 2 'rauders on there..check the location. local to me, neat! it must be a sign
3) go to dealer, wheel and deal, settle on $28k and say 'need to wait for the loan to come through' deposit $100
4) go home, bid on MY rauder (same vin) up to $27k...seeing if i could get 1k off ;)
5) reserve not meet. auction goes on
6) i tell them i will take the car, all is well (called the dealer about real car..nothing to do with ebay)
7) auction continues to go on.
8) auction ends with my bid of 23k as the highest (wasnt pushed to 27)
9) get an email from the dealer(auction) saying 'this was sent to all bidders, first come first serve, lots of intrest car, will go for $28k'
10) i get email, am shocked that auction wasnt closed and my car is apperently free game to anyone that wants if for the price i negoiated.
11) i am confused and a little dismayed.
the end.

Man, I need to go lie down now...
I'm even MORE confused...(people on my "LIST" need not reply)...
Your dealer was running the car on e-Bay at the same time he was negotiating with you?! And he took a deposit from you?! That would seem unethical at best...
$28k IS a good price, but man...if your dealer is that shady up front, I'd be hesitant about bringing it back for any servicing...

Buy the car...but watch the deal very carefully and do not let them slip something in on you...some think they have sold to cheap and try to sweeten the deal for themselves...w/extras like protectants, yadda yadda yadda...correction: a lot of them will try to sweeten the deal for themselves...you will be smiling with the Black Beast...raud on...

:shake: RF That's done all the time. They usually have a disclaimer stating they can end the auction early if the car sells due to local adveretising. John
