Electrical Problems

After having my car detailed yesterday, I drove to get some gas. During the ride, the A/C was working fine along with all other electrical systems. After my fill-up, I turned the ignition, the car started fine, but no climate control of any sort, no interior lights, no clock, no exterior lights(underbody lighting kit). Everything else is working fine. Any ideas?

Yes. Power washed, but... after the wash, another guy came in and removed the headliner and console to pop out a ding in the roof. He said all of the elecrical was working when he was inside the car.

Power washed Oooooooh...bad idea...modular motors no likey...hopefully after it dries out the problems go away. I would avoid power washing the engine bay in future...too many electronics.

I'd inspect it and see if you can find any water pooled anywhere or possibly loose connections.

I remember when my dad brought his CVPI home we washed out the engine bay. Water pooled in the spark plug hole (SOHC motor, no coil covers/gaskets) causing a misfire.

Since then I do all engine cleaning by hand. :(

It could be a fuse, maybe a common point where all this is wired together possible a connection is loose.

Ahh yes the good ole' power washing engine bay no electrical stuffy work trick. Give everything a few days to dry out and see if that happens. It took me 3 hrs to clean my friend's mustang 2v engine only using simple green, a tooth brush, easy off oven cleaner and a big squirt bottle full of hot water. That reminds me I need to start cleaning my car for the Safford L/M gig.

I had my car washed and inside cleaned and when I got home I later went out at night with the car. When I started it, I had no clock or interior lights, no climate control lights...it was all dark. The had turned down the interior light knob all the way down. Took me a few seconds to figure it out.

I did the same thing to a Dodge Dakota a good while back. After drying out, all was good :D

The dealer discovered that when the dent guy reattached the driver's side visor, the screw grounded out the wires that control power locks, climate control, clock, etc. and it blew the fuse. Wires and fuse replaced, car ready, and my next dent repair will be free!:D

I discovered that the climate control and interior lights are on the same circuit a couple of years ago. I had a bad door ajar switch in one of my doors and so the interior lights would stay on all the time. Before I got it fixed I just pulled the interior lighting fuse and discovered that it took down the climate control as well. Glad you go it sorted out.

I have done the same, I keep a distance when I spray and I make sure not to hold the spray in one place for too long.
