This is just f'n awesome.... especially the French stitched interior, which I hope makes it to production as a premium option..

This shot is of a car on loan to the film makers of the Transformers movie:

I tell you what, Hot Rod magazine had pictures of the 2009 Pontiac Firebird in black, white, and I found this blue version online. I will buy a Firebird if they build it.

The studio car is a non-functional special effects car, going to transform into something else. First time I've seen this paint scheme, though.

Hopefully they'll loose that chicken decal on the hood, along the way. Personally, I think the Camaro is a much tidier package, Especially the throwback styling cues, like the '69 rear quarter treatment with the three bars in front of the rear wheels. The interior on the Camaro is scrumptious, and I'm betting the Poncho will be just as nice, as they've always done a great interior.

Thanks again, Donny. Once again you've wowed us with your great photo essays. Keep 'em coming. :2thumbs:

I like the Camaro, up until the point I see it everywhere. I liked the new Mustang, now it's EVERYWHERE and not so special or unique to see. The V8 ones are still nice, but I see V6 Convertibles everywhere...

The business plan for the Camaro, according to Bob Lutz, is sales of 100,000 per year. That means a crapload of V-6's for the secretaries to drive and park next to their coworker's V6 Mustangs in the employee lot. Ecch.

Scuttlebut on the GM boards is that the SS or Z28 version will get the 505 HP LS7, with the 400 HP LS2 the base V8 offering. With a 6-speed manual to boot, the 6-speed auto with paddle shift for the LS2. I'm expecting the high performance model to sticker upper 30's in line with the SRT price structure.

A lot of the performance parts will be offered on the new RWD Impala SS, including the LS2 and 6 speed auto, which will mean you can mod the Impala with the flood of aftermarket parts that will be available for the Camaro. The Impala will be built on the same platform as the Camaro, IIRC.

I am leaning toward the Challenger. The Camaro would looks twice as good if they lost that bowtie on the grill. :D

Even the seatbelts look retro.....my Dad's 69 Mustang had almost the same look as these...except if I remember corectly the shoulder belt was hooked up to the roof liner.

If all that came true, it would answer alot of prayers. If only gas prices

came to answer prayers as well...

Where are the T-tops?
Maybe they discontinued the T-Tops. Just heard that there is a Corvette recall recently announced (last 2-3 days or so) that they are losing their roof out on the highway. Must be the same "body flex" issue that GM had awhile back on Camaros and Firebird T-Tops popping loose on the road. :o

In the meantime, don't be following any Corvettes and beware of flying debris.

If it were up to me I would keep the Vette's in my rear view mirror.

I was so adamant the Challenger was better looking than the Camaro and then this comes up.... Hopefully it will have that fake engine turned aluminium on the dash too. I will buy one someday if they look like this, white with a blue interior and stripes.

Nah. It has to do with the way the roof panels are made....

"The Corvette's hard top is comprised of a magnesium frame and hard plastic roof panel and weighs between 5 and 10 pounds. The roof panel has blown off when adhesive that attaches the roof to a frame separates, GM spokesman Alan Adler said."

The Camaro looks like it should be in a comic book. Too much! Pontiac much crispier. Either will probably weigh over 4000 lbs. and the Cobra will again one up them Right both will cost over 30 grand for a loaded V8. Like the idea of pocket rockets coming back. I'm still driving my '89 GT Conv. and still love it.

Have you seen the curb weight on the new "Cobra" Shelby GT500? It's 300 - 400 pounds heavier than a Mustang GT and nose heavy to boot.

This was the 1999 concept GTO, notice any similarities. Now GM wants to call it a Camero with some design changes? Are we to believe that this is the future?

Read a few articles that must have given the weight but didn't tumble to it. No matter, I'm planning to buy one next year as don't want to pay 5 Gs over MSRP.

Our new best favorite magazine: Car & Driver just published an article on a shootout between the GT 500 and the Vette. It seems the new Mustang is hauling a fair amount of pork. Interestingly enough, they did a retro piece about a '68 (automatic tranny) Shelby, and a '68 427 Vette. I find it amusing because the '68 Vette is considered by many as the low water mark in Corvette history .....and still it beat that Shelby ...albiet with an automatic transmission.

500 HP supercharged 5.4 liter, and by some accounts is no faster than the 2003 Cobra with the 4.6 liter.
3990 pounds? That's a heavy Mustang.
