Showing up in a Big Black car is the ONLY way, besides Black goes with Everything. As for the back seat issue, Get a Room!!

The Marauder shows class, style and power -- just the image you want to project. Don't use the T-Top because her hair is going to be "just so" and she won't want it messed up before the big evening. And don't take the '79 Lincoln. As nice as it may be, she's going to want to know why she didn't rate "the new car".
You can't go wrong with the Marauder!

Cause there's SO many beaches in MO!
Honestly though, it's ultimately her decision. I've kind of ruled out the Lincoln because it's got a bit of an exhaust leak that I CAN get fixed in time, but it's just one more thing to add to my LONG list of things I've got left to do before Prom night. And a leaky exhaust just wouldn't be proper. Just lookin' from a little BIASED feedback. :D
I vote (and did) that you go with the Marauder. Since we are all old, fat married men...it'd be nice to hear of SOMEONE "getting lucky" in the back of one...cause we ALL know about Prom Nights...
Maybe you should install the recently pictured "lumbar relief" for the back seats

What I want to know is why they didn't come out with this car when I was in high school. All I get from the 17 year old girls working at the Sonic drive in is what a sweet car I have. Damn. :D

I grew up wealthy but I can assure you my Dad would not buy me a 35,000 dollar car. I was lucky to get his used Caddy which wasnt a bad deal....Hell two couples could get it on in the back seat at the same time...we also learned you can cook a pizza on the hood if its 100 degrees out and you leave the motor on...also learned that baked on cheese wont come off but can be explained as baked on bird XXit

OK LML (kid) pay attention to the Big Dog. I had a '70 X-100 when I was your age. My Dad was a L&M Dealer. So he of course offer me his Lincoln. I opted to take the Marauder seeing as it was her prom not mine. They rest as they say is history.
Somethings in life are worth it
Enjoy the night.
Remember the night is not about your Marauder. Be cool NO burnout... NONE, DO NOT DO IT......

Well, for all those who voted the Marauder, I'm sorry to disappoint ya, but she chose the Vette... Now now now, before we get carried away, she and I brought some VERY good pluses to this. One, no staying up till 5am Saturday morning waxing the MM. Two, not my car, let the bashing (before I pick her up) begin! :D Three, which she made a valid point, she get's to see my MM all the time, and she's never riden in a Vette, so she'd be up for a lil change. I don't know if she'll want the T-Tops off, but MAYBE afterwards she will. BUT, this is all subject to change depending on whether or not my Uncle can get the thing cleaned up to my standards by that time.
And yah, I know, no "playing" with the lady in the car, less she asks, right? :D Supposively there's a car show around here afterwards, so MAYBE we'll swing by there and she'll WANT me to show off. Otherwise, I'll keep it put away (*cough cough*)! :D

Women... OK, here's a lil pre-prom story that'll make the majority of you smile.
I go over to the GF's house. Mommy's home, no biggie, she wants to talk about "the night" anyway. Marauder's out in her driveway looking pretty pitiful from last night's rain, but the interior is spotless. So, we're talking and her Mom goes, "So, is that what you're taking to prom?" GF (which I guess I could actually put a name to this, Samantha (Sam for short).) says, "No, we're taking his uncles Vette. "A Corvette?!?!" says her Mom. "Yes..." reply's Sam. "Why would you take a Vette with a dress like yours?" asks Mom. "I dunno... cause I wanted to?" says Sam. "Let's go look at his Marauder thing..." insists her Mom. So, while Mommy inspects the Marauder, asking me about the illegal (shh...) tint on the windows, Sam's telling me how I shouldn't have let her choosen the car. I told her it's all good, it's her decision, not her Mom's or mine. Mom says that the Marauder has more class than a hot rod Vette (Which I almost started laughing! When was the last time a car with 18" rims, and 3" pipes out back get a best in class award? Plus the MM could stomp my Uncles Vette!). So, to make a long story short, Mom vetoed my GF's vote and persuaded her to take the MM, which Sam already loves to death anyway. So, yesterday she came over (Sam that is...) and we washed, clay bared, and waxed the MM. She was amazed at home the water sheeted off the car! LOL! She said her cars don't do that... Sigh...
So yah, MM's going tonight, and she's looking killer! Definately have PLENTY of APPROPRIATE pics to share!

OK, so I picked her up at 5pm and was awe struck by her dress. Man-o-man... ANYWAY, walked in a shook her Dad's hand. He was shorter than me, so yah... ;) No, but her parents are really cool. Her Mom took about a dozen pics and let us go after Sam was complaining about her heels sinking into the ground. LOL! So, we left there and ran back to my hosue real quick to get my forgotten bow tie. Then we met my Dad at a local park to take some more pics. There was about two dozen pics... Then off to my Mom's for our final parent picture taking session. After them, we FINALLY started heading out to the hotel that prom was held at. On the way there I remembered 93teal told me about a car show going on that night. I asked her if she wanted to roll through there since we were running early anyway. She happily agreed. As we were rolling though (where were ya 93teal?), she says to me, "I don't know if they're looking at your car, or us..." That made me laugh! So, we headed out from there and continued on to the hotel. Got there at 6:45pm and signed in. FINAL pics were taken, and we walked in. She wouldn't let me hit the food table right away! We did A LOT of slow dancing (the best kind, right? :D ), and a few fast paced dances. I FINALLY got to eat, but the food sucked anyway. They announce prom king and queen and we left to go eat at about 9:30pm. Went to Olive Garden to eat (our origanal plan was to eat at Fratolli's, but they closed their kitchen down early, bastages...). Ate, then left. I asked her if she wouldn't mind going by the commuter lot to see if any of my friends were there. She said sure, since she has really ever seen my racing buddies. Rolled up in there. Saw the guy with that Monte Carlo that wouldn't race me. Well... he wanted to race now that he has his 350 in. I told him no, which was no big deal. Talked up there for awhile and then it was time to take her home. On the way there we were holding hands in the car and she started to fall asleep. I wore her out! LOL! :D Got her home just a hair after mid-night, walked her to her door, kissed and hugged her good-night, and went home smiling! :D
So, that was our night, definately a night to remember! Of course, I didn't go into "in-depth" detail because... well, just because! I'll post some pics when I get my film back. There SHOULD be some pics up on the net from the prom itself, but they haven't got there yet...
Congrats on what sounds like a GREAT evening. We all knew you'd be the gentleman we expected. BTW...be sure you marry a girl that will let you check out a car show on prom night...

You need to search the internet for a plug-in called "Mean Joe's Ultra-Fast Gibberish Converter" and install it in Netscape using the bronze 'key' you should have received with your licensed version of the browser. If you did not receive said key, you're screwed....
Just kidding... what I did was save the files to my hard drive (in a nice personalized directory named 'LML' ) and made sure I stuck a " .jpg " at the end of the filename when it asked me what/where I wanted to save the file. In fact, if I remember correctly, my Netscape 7 tried to save the file with a .html extension on it, and I just replaced it with .jpg and viewed it with another JPG viewer.
What you were seeing on your screen was the binary info within the image file. The browser didn't know how to interpret it... with a .jpg extension, it would have known it was a picture and displayed it accordingly.

Yeah, I forgot to mention... to save the file under Netscape, you do have to right click and choose the save target as... option. Sorry for omitting this detail, I hope UncleLar managed to view the pics anyway.
I'm curious how IE managed to figure out it was a jpg file without the jpg extension. I did some work with jpeg encoding recently (XP munched my Smartmedia cards, thanks Bill Gates!) and I know there's a standard JPG header. Maybe it detects that...
But then I have to ask, why aren't your pics uploaded as jpgs in the first place?
BTW, downloading the pics wasn't a waste of time or hard drive space for me, as I'm using them as a basis for my choice of tint. The quality of the images as well as their excellent composition were right on, and combined with some tint info from LML in another thread, I'll be getting that done ASAP.
LincMercLover
05-19-2003, 06:59 AM
3TA,
Umm... ok, you lost me with the tint thing, but yah... The pics are uploaded as jpegs in my AOL FTP space. The only files I've had problems with is the Focus video's, because it's a .wmv. I still don't know why you would right click...

The tint thing is because you described your tint in another thread, and the prom pictures are the first I've seen of your car with the tint in question, and I was able to see first-hand what you were referring to (reflection, darkness, etc.).
When I try to save the pics, they show up as .html files, hence the text. I suspect AOL 'presents' the files in a different fashion than other hosting areas. My provider lists the entire filename 'as is' when I provide a directory listing, but AOL appears to only provide the first part of the filename WITHOUT the extension. As such, Netscape appears to take it as a text file and renders it as an HTML file.
