Drove a 300C SRT8 today. What a nice ride. I was very surprised by how tight the car is. Handling was precise and it accelerated like a rocket. I am tempted by the dark side.

They are really nice cars. Dare I say, nicer than the Marauder. {Flame suit on!} :flamer:
However, if I was in the position to spend that kind of money on a car it would not be that car. I love my Marauder and it is the best daily driver, but if I was going to spend 40+ Gs on new car I would rather it have 2 doors and six speeds.

Dear 40 degrees 23.593N/82 degrees 27.766W,
If you ever fall on the dark side and since you will be a former MM owner, we promess we will lift the throttle half way when passing by !! :)

I drove one, too. It didn't take much to get the back end dancin'. I'll add $6k to my MM in the future to top it.

When they first arrived I really liked the look of the car but over time the dumpster front end and armoured car like windows have turned me off. I want to drive the challenger however. Dennis:beer:

I drove a buddy of mines new 300C Hemi. It has the same engine as my truck. Dont know why, but my truck seems quicker. I know that is impossible but maybe its the way its geared or something. The 300C is a nice car, but it is kinda narrow. I actually like the MM better, though I know the SRT-8 is real quick.

I have a couple of SRT-8 egos in my trunk.
It's a cool car, sure... but the investment is a bit much.

Too much padding? Or the numbers go too high for you?

Its a nice car. More luxo sedan than muscle sedan though. There's no brawny look to it at all. It would make a nice commute car but it won't turn heads.

It most likely is the gearing. Your truck probably has 3.55 or 3.92 gears as where the 300C has either a 3.07 or 2.92 ratio.

These new Chryslers do nothing for me. The styling is total ghetto. I'm 6'4".
I sit in them and have no room. Not to mention the window beltline is so high that visibility is not good. It feels just like Hotrauder said in his post: "armored car".
Not in my garage, ever.
Best,
Paul :D

One good thing about a 300 is that you don't have to look at it.

Very true!
That reminds me of when I was issued my first LT1-powered Chevy Caprice "9C1" 12 years ago. The consensus opinion was that they were "ugly as sin" but, you forgot all about what they looked like when you would drive them........quite hard BTW! :burnout:

He said SRT..............more muscle looking than a regular one and definitely beefier than a V-6 rental(which is what you mostly see)
I say...............
DO IT
Do it
Do it
you won't regret it............................ ..

I did one of my logicial analysis of my MM versus buying a $43,000 (sticker) Shelby GT 500 or even a SRT. One deceiding factor is I will never buy a new car that is not faster off the floor then my current car. The recently tested pre-production GT 500s did only 13.1 on the 1/4 mile. So if the Fall GT 500 will actually go to 500 HP (flywheel) and do the 1/4 in 12.9. I still have a MM that has more HP and faster then a GT 500 and heavier to boot. In addition, I believe my MM would not be far behind in handling then the GT 500 with all my mods. The same analysis can be used on any of the SRT variations. They cannot go faster then my MM and outhandle my MM. Just my look at things.

That's another reason why I like you Glenn--Although I never said it--your reasoning is so much like mind----and I agree-I too drove such a car....and it did nothing for me--I guess when we have so much play power --its hard for factory to keep up--

Funny you should post that? I am 6'6" and have a little more leg room but find the headroom equal to the Marauder. What I did not like was sitting down in the car.

I've never sat in a 300. Can you roll the window down and rest your elbow on the sill?

That's it, the numbers, numbers scare me.
I just think that layout of the center counsel is ugly, as well as the steering wheel. No drawn out explanation needed, if I think it's ugly, I think it's ugly. Enjoy...

I remember having similar thoughts back in 93' when the Mark VIII's came out.
Loved the look & feel of being in the "cockpit" waaaaay more than the look & feel of the cockpit of a Mark VII, as well as instantly falling in love with the new(then) 4V 4.6 & opening one up every chance you got.
However .....
Getting out of the car & actually having to look at it from the outside ..... is a different story.
Probably, very much the same way I'd feel if I went & drove a 1998-2006 Town Car right now. Not so much for the few extra ponies the SOHC 4.6 has these days ..... but for the much improved handling.

Chrysler quality has always had a bad reputation. The Daimler buy out is supposed to be improving things.

It just doesn't get any better than an MM. Period. There are various other cars that may be faster, sportier, louder, prettier, uglier or cheaper. I fit the MM and it fits me. Perfect combination of class, utility, performance, space and style that suits me. I have put around a thousand in mods in the car and at times it scares me. Just wait till I get rear gears and maybe torque converter done. May have to keep several pairs of spare pants in the trunk.
