After reading Chasrein01's thread on not seeing any other MM's on his recent trip, (didn't want to hijack his post) wanted to post some thoughts bout my trip driving MM from Ft. Lauderdale to Chicago this past weekend. Saw three other MM's, silver on FL turnpike near Orlando; a black one during a fuel stop off I-75 in Ocala (we exchanged waves at the traffic light...anyone here?); and another silver northbound on I-57 near Kankakee, IL.
Anyway, while I'm not a big fan of street racing, experienced a few short but "spirited" rolling encounters with other car guy types along the way. The final outcome of each of these meetings was the same... but getting there varied to some degree and included a couple of surprises. Was surprised at how easy it was to dust off an 06 Nissan 350Z on I-475 near Macon. Same case with some kinda late model, go-fast looking Acura with large dual exhausts, wide tires etc. Ditto for a new, good looking Jaguar (pretty darker metallic blue color) sedan on I-24 near Clarksville. Biggest surprise however was a new looking Cadillac STS sedan on a deserted stretch of I-24 in southeast IL on Sunday morning, this guy ran up close on my rear bumper than pulled up next to me on the right to instigate the event that followed. I didn't bite at first, but he was really persistent. It wasn't a real close contest but certainly alot closer than any of the others. I'm not real familiar with these cars but I assume it had some sort of Northstar power plant (??). Anyway, this particular STS was surprisingly fast. I believe he was truly startled by having a big Merc sedan walk away from his Caddy...after I slowed down he refused to pass me and took the next available exit ramp. The MM is really a great road trip car IMHO.:D

It may have been the 480hp STS-V... supercharged Northstar.

Good stories :)

I don't find it surprising at all. Un-supercharged with minor mods, Blue Thunder is amazing on the highway - even accelerating from 70 mph. Freaks me out that it still has so much power left to give when I am forced to let off the gas.
