View Full Version : Sold your MM? What took its place?
For all of you who sold your MM and still lurk/post (because you can never really leave the MM family!)...what did you purchase/will you purchase to replace it?
Edited to add:
If you still own your MM and you were going to replace it....what would you replace it with that's currently on the market? What current automobile might give you that same feeling you get while behind the wheel of your MM?

Sell my Marauder! Are you really serious? I love my Marauder very much, and it'll be a long, long time before I ever part with it. It's so rare (only seen maybe 9 or 10 in 2 years). It's such a big, comfortable road car. It's got all of this really cool high performance factory equipment built in too. It has lot's of even higher performance parts that you can buy to mod your car. It's just one of the coolest cars I've ever owned. People are always asking me what kind of car it is, or, telling me how much they like it. Everytimne I pull up next to a car at a light, I see them looking at my wheels. No, I can't part with my baby. Not yet. Maybe never.
Jim
PS: My pick for a replacement would be a used late-model Thunderbird convertible, or, a new Mustang GT convertible.

Lisa, when you sell the Marauder will Charlie and the kids want to come :hide: live with me? Just checking. Dennis
As I recall...your move to the Aviator was for the sake of your most precious cargo! There's not a more noble reason than that.

Sell my Marauder and replace it? Ha! I just sold my '05 Mustang GT and replaced it with an '04 Marauder. The Mustang was a cop magnet (White with red shebly stripes) and no LEO would ever think of pulling over a Marauder. :nono:

Ditto on all this including replacement cars. I will add a Lincoln LS v6 5spd, just cuz it's rare and a manual.
Moot point though, cuz I just invested 20k on a second Marauder...

Hey Alan,.
More than the safety aspect was the fact that I was spending waaaay to much time, energy, and money on it.

Hey Alan,.
More than the safety aspect was the fact that I was spending waaaay to much time, energy, and money on it.
If I recall, you have young kids too?
If so, the Aviator is much more user friendly.
I had a 94 TBird V8 when my kids were young; didn't work. Bought a Windstar.
Those days are over for me, so I'm driving what I want to. (within reason)

I understand that!
Much as I hate to say it...I think it's time that I move on from my MM, too. I've spent my time with it. Time for someone else to enjoy it since it's just become a garage queen this past year.
The goodbye will be bittersweet and not something I look forward to doing, but I think the time has come. Costs me a lot of money to make that payment each month for it to sit in the garage to only come out to play on nice days...

So that was you who bought the Blue on Ebay?
2006 Chrysler 300C Heritage Edition (less than 5,000 made). The Heritage Edition is basically a SRT8 except it has the 5.7 liter engine instead of the 6.1. Inferno red, which is only available on the Heritage Edition.

Bring home a purple PT and see :cheesed:! :hotrice:
The Defyant Marauder will not be going anywhere anytime soon. It has become much more than metal, plastic and rubber. One day it will run it's course, that day is far from now!
In fact, if I had an extra 30K right now, we'd be on our way to meet Mac!

I've been debating on selling my 03 MM and getting an 06 Mustang GT or variation there of. Just can't quite bring myself to do it yet though. My Marauder sits more than it's driven these days and that gets me thinking about buying something new, then I go and drive the darn thing again! :burnout:
Maybe I'll just have to keep it and pull the trigger on the Mustang next year...I hate decisions like this! :D

My Blue MM is destined to go to my youngest son (S.O.B.) at some point in time. However, there is absolutely nothing on the market right now that could make me do the rollover to him at this time. But I have my eyes peeled for the new Dodge Challenger as long as D-C doesn't screw it up between now and its final release. :D

Yes, still occasionally lurking! Well it was a compromise - My 03 Blue MM was
replaced by a new leftover well equipped 05 Dakota Quad cab 4wd - p.u.--
much more versatile and practical in the N.E.----and when my buddy borrows
pick up I can swap for his 04 Mach I 5spd . ( Engine has a familiar sound!)
( I also may end up with the Mach I if he can land a deal on a Shelby 500 )

Hey Lisa, I have this great drink for you to try at the next CAM meet. It's really good!
Shhhh! Charlie, it is the secret "Your love my Marauder forever" drink. ;)
Selling our Marauder ... I don't think so ... instead we just purchased our second. :D

I tend to keep those things I like, let me see here... wife 32 years (still own), 1975 Ford LTD 23 years (no longer in the family), 1995 Crown Vic 11 years (still own), 2003 Mercury Marauder 4 years (still own).
I may buy one day a high-performance Lexus 4 door, RWD sedan...I doubt it will make me feel like the MM. does, but it will be ok.:)

Wife decided she wanted a Milan. She got it.:o It's like half the Marauder... DOHC, 160hp, Mazda 4 banger, 5 speed auto, It's a peppy little chit though. She loves it so that's what counts.....
I'm driving the 'ol '98 Riv. She doesn't respond well to helm commands  . Centrifical force played no part is the designing of this car's suspension.... the big steering wheel give about 22 turns lock to lock.
Oh, I forgot it's a B-U-I-C-K! and i'm a Grampaa.

I want to see the new Challenger when it comes out... or maybe a one of the cars based on the Falcon platform. I have a couple years.

I could never give up my MM. No other car comes close to the ride, looks, size and comfort. but if I had to replace it, it would have to be that lime green MM with 22 inch wheels.

Keeping my DTR for the foreseeable future. Replacement ideas are Mustang GT, Dodge Challenger or maybe my 1st GM product, new Camaro...

Traded for a 2006 Acura TL, in a Marauder like blue. Miss the Marauder
but it ran on lemons; So bad that the Merc dealer backed out from buying
it from the Acura dealer I traded it to. Shame to, only had 20,000mi. But I do
enjoy the Acura. Its got the Navigation and every option. $36,000 and
got it for 32,500 so I could not pass up the deal. I still keep her in
my signature pic to keep her close to me :) .

Be careful the Prius is one tough cookie. http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=16201 They have reportedly killed a 5.0, m3 (until the Prius topped out), a viper, a sportbike, even an enzo.
I hear the Prius is pretty quick and very fuel efficient. Might have to test drive one this weekend, never know.
I wonder how many I could buy for trading in 2 Kenny Brown Marauders? :hmmm:

I will keep my Marauder up till something similar comes on the market. Currently, I do not see anything. Charger ? Not a single touch of class. Mustang ? Not enough room behind. 300 Chrysler ? Too difficult to spot yours in a parking lot. Japanese ? I do not speak the language - and failed to learn it with an FX45...
A nice sleeper is for sure the M5. But it costs too much. It is sad to see that big - north american made - american technology - distinctive - classy -powerfu l- rear wheel drive - "tunable" - affordable cars disappeared from the market.
