Gang,

My wife is looking at a 95 Mustang GT Convertible. The question came up at the dinner table concerning what octane fuel the car requires. I've done web search to no avail. Anyone have a 95 Mustang GT ? What does Ford recommend for octane?

Thanks,

My Godmother owned a 96' and I believe it was regular 87.

I had a 1995 GTS coupe. 87 octane is used stock, but with the advancing of the timing, 93 will be required. BTW, make sure the odometer works.

Thanks both....

The car is in Indiana ( I have this thing about having to travel to pickup a car I guess) :loco:

It is for the wife so advancing of the timing etc. is not something that she is that concerned with. She currently drives a Miata but is ready for a little bit bigger car (convertible). I steered her towards a 5.0L Mustang due to the availability of parts etc.

The 87 octane is a good thing !

Yeah it should run 87 no problem. When you get it, check the timing, I think it's the same as the older foxes, 10deg is stock, 12-14 is advanced and usually requires higher octane. It's a common mod, so I'd check it to see where it's set.

Remember to pull off the spout connector, the little grey terminator hanging off a few wries near the distributor.

BTW, I have a custom h-pipe for 94-95 GT 5.0.

What type of gas mileage is typical for the 95 GT Vert?

I had a 95 GT Coupe and stock it would manage about 26 MPG on the highway (driven around 60-65 mph) with a personal best of nearly 29 MPG on a very tame 55-60 mph run. If I recall my 94 had stock gearing of 2.93 I believe. When I changed to 3.73s I used to get about 23 MPG.
