You mean that bad boy is 45k + 30k markup. I think I'd rather build my own for those greenbacks.

With that kind of aditional markup there will be plenty unsold units.

Look what happened with the GT's and the GTO's.

Yeah we had a GT on the showroom for 1 whole year with a 100k mark-up, about 8 months into it an employee here offered to buy it for sticker--not asking for any employee discount or anything--offered to write a check on the spot, they refused to sell it to him.

After a year they sold it to Joe Blow off the street for sticker.......Ford wouldn't allocate another one until we sold the 1st one........so they basically screwed up 2 sales that way

Depends, heard Challenger was gonna be as many as they could sell. Whereas Shelby was limited at about 8k units/year and of course the Shelby name....

I'll wait for the Challenger thanks very much.

BigMerc

They won't be selling 8k a year if they stay the greedy bastiges that they are.

I only buy Ford, always have but you know what, I'll buy that challenger before I buy a car with a 30k markup. the dirty rats are going to kill it because of greed.

If you have a good product BUILD IT!!!! sell as many as you can instead of trying to keep an artificial high on a few items.

Ford execs are IDIOTS

At one point they OWNED the SUV market, then they went cheap, poor product and nickel and dimed you to death and VIOLA !!!!Tahoe is the best SUV around.

look at the 300C selling the crap out of them now look at the Marauder, much better car, but no advertisement, no support, no ANYTHING ..Hmm I wonder why they don't sell?

Ford won't be happy until they are bankrupt.

I'll buy the Challenger because they will have loads of aftermarket parts

Being "the first" usually means paying the most. The Kenny Brown Marauder S cars sold for 55K (including the base car), but at least you got something for your money. Lot's of somethings...

With a 45K sticker and 30K "pleasure tax," just what kinds of mods would this Shelby Mustang be needing?

These files are fairly heavily reduced... from 4-5MB down to under 70kB... I did this to save website bandwidth.. Let me know if you would like a copy of the original high res image.

What would it take to get this:

To be GT500 specs, or better.
Seems like the Miata, PT Cruiser, Mini, ad naseum with the "next best thing"...Charge what you can while you can, IMHO.
So, at current prices you would have over 50k to play with.
What would you do with the savings?
Just wondering...

I realize they did it to be like the older ones .....

But I really don't like the look of the "offset look" of the older one you posted the link to either.

Now the Challenger "to be" ...... IMHO looks fine with the offset emblem, because the grill is NOT completely "empty" so to speak(bar going across).

I hate to say it, but the Shelby is kinda ugly compared to a regular Mustang.

All this info tells me something about my next car that can be summed up in one word.

Challenger.

OK, I *suppose* it could be "Camaro."

Sorry, Ford.

6 Speed is just fine. When the time comes to sell the GTO, Ill be down at the Dodge dealer. The Shelby is nice but Im curious whey they didnt put wider sequential tailights on it. When I think Shelby, I always liked those tailights. Regardless, Ill like the Challenger more.

I say that car will be sitting on the lot for at least a month. The dealers are screwing themselves with all this 10k,25k over sticker price. It's still a Mustang.

In 2-3 months time I bet you'd be able to walk into a showroom and buy the car for either Sticker Price, or a little less. Same thing as with the SRT8's when they first came out, and with the 04-06 GTO's, and even some of the 05 Mustangs.

I'd love to have one, I'd also love to have a Challenger.

When I took delivery of my Harley F-150, we talked about the Shelby. McCarty Ford has the largest allotment in Alabama and has presold all but one, which is put aside for the dealer's son. If this dealer reaches certain goals set by Ford (customer satisfaction survey, sales goals, etc) Ford will increase their allotment by 15 more cars, and all these are spoken for as well. Except for the one going to the dealer's son, all were sold over MSRP, from what I was told.

Matt Johnson
07-09-2006, 11:19 AM
These things will not be sitting around here in S.Cal - don't know a dealer that hasn't already presold their entire allottment.

Ezbok58a
07-09-2006, 01:12 PM
The thing is, people are snaping them up because they want to have it as a collectors item, many people who have original Shelby Mustangs are buying these (which might make 20k over MSRP a bargain when their 68 GT500 is a 125k car)

Don't forget that they are planning to make these for 5 years, not one or two so after the first half of 07, these will be selling at sticker or lower becuase the thrill is gone.

Don't forget this is a Mustang that does 12.2 in the 1/4 @ 117. Put different gears and a tune on it and hello 11's :)

Matt Johnson
07-09-2006, 03:59 PM
Exactly. These are the times when you realize how many people have disposable income in the US right now, despite that fact that so many more people are just getting by. I'm sure many of these cars are being bought by guys who've never owned a Ford before, will never drive the car, and just want one so that they can say they own one.

Personally, I'm not coveting the thing. But if I considered 70K pocket change, I might just snap one up to keep it parked 'on the shelf' too, for no other reason than to just own a "Shelby."

Ezbok58a
07-09-2006, 07:53 PM
 I honestly don't really see how they want it as a collectors item when Ford is going to be building 15,000+ a year for Five years.:help:

jefferson-mo
07-09-2006, 08:12 PM
It's a collector's item if you buy it for 80K...........sit on it for 20 or 30 years.....don't put any miles on it............then all the others have been modded, wrecked, rusted, stolen or traded hands many times........then you might get 1/2 your money back..................

sounds OK to me........................
