There must have been at least 75 others that missed the K&N part number last week also. :shot:

For the price of 1 K&N, I can buy 6 Motorcraft OEM filters, and not have to dick around cleaning and oiling them, and having to worry about the oil migrating to my MAF...

Look into Accel Blue Max. All the advantages, no silly oil to add!

K&N distributors still dont know about it. I went last week and the guy called K&N and they had no clue. i gave him the stock air filter and he kind of freaked when it said "FOR MARADUER ONLY". I love owning cars that confuse people!

Anyway good to know about the filter, does anyone know how much they cost?

"FOR MARADUER ONLY" will change with the introduction of the '04 CVPI which will use the Marauder air box

Is this an oiled filter? DO NOT use it. The oil in the filter will migrate to the MAF and coat the sensing wires. This will make you run lean. This you do not want. Your OEM filter will flow more than enough air. This comes on the authority of individuals who helped design your car. They can custom tune it for you as well.

If you use the oil properly you will have no problem.

I've been using the old K&N 33-2012 filter that fit but was really made for another car. I replaced it with the correct one today (from Auto Zone) and thought I'd share the differences.

The sealing surface and lip is made differently. The substitute version is thicker and hard to put the air box back together, the correct one is the same dimensions but the seal is thinner and fits perfectly.

The pleats in the filter material are arranged vertically instead of horizontally and are much closer together. This should provide more surface area and better air flow. I had suspected that it would also be thicker which would have that same effect on surface area, especially since the substitute filter was not as thick as the OEM paper filter, but this was not the case. The thickness of the 2 K&N filters are the same.

Performance difference is unknown at this time. As I posted earlier, when I went to the dyno I tested the OEM vs the substitute K&N and there was maybe 1 hp and 1 ft-lb difference but that is not statistically high enough to say it made a difference. Next trip I'll repeat the test using the correct filter.

Hope someone finds this info useful.
