Pink Floyd's Ode to Syd

Lyrics to Pink Floyd's 'Shine On, You Crazy Diamond,' (http://mp.aol.com/audio.index.adp?pmmsid=1675867 ) which was written about Syd Barrett and appeared on 1975's 'Wish You Were Here': Listen to Song (http://mp.aol.com/audio.index.adp?pmmsid=1675867 ) <HR>Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze.

Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!

You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the steel breeze.

Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph, and sail on the steel breeze.

Come on you boy child, you winner and loser,
come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine!

60 is young, I hope he had peace. Pink Floyd is in a place all of their own.

I believe in living your life. I don't think Sid missed much. He had a wild ride. Quality over quanity every time. Dennis:D

Mental illness is no joy-ride. The other band members have gone on record as being greatly saddened by his wasted condition. I'm sure Sid's example turned them away from drugs.

shut up :shake: Thank you, Jefferson, we tend to shy away from this style of reply. It's edgy, but most appropriate here, and I'm hoping for a new and sharper "edge" (when appropriate) to spread wings elsewhere among our posts.

Meanwhile...Ditto.

R.I.P. you never had among us, Sid.

...I held the blade,
in trembling hands,
prepared to make it, but...

Just then the phone rang.
I never had the nerve to make the final cut.

A little quote from one of the record suppliers:

Studies have been conducted on the success of Pink Floyd's classic, best-of-the-best "Dark Side of the Moon." Some results are as follows:

*One in every 20 people under the age of 50 in the United States owns a copy of this album *Dark Side remained on Billboard's 200 album chart for an amazing 15 years straight and then for another two when it was remastered back in 1994 *It is currently the most successful album ever with upwards of 40 million copies sold world-wide
