Here in California our smog inspections are performed on a two wheel dyno and I noticed the Ford emission decals says:
Attention: Dynamometer Operator - Dyno Restrictions may apply.
Vehicle may have: ABS, Traction control
Since my 04 has both ABS & traction control is there something I should be aware of when the smog test guy puts it on the dyno?

Your ABS light will probably be on for a couple of miles after the test. It's no big deal. Once the computer sees all the wheels turning at the same speed, the light will go off.

WOW, most obd2 cars just get the computer checked, very interesting. Maybe a anxious emissions guy trying out a marauder.

Just turn off the t/c. The test should go smoothly after that.

If I recall when we had "dyno" emision testing here in MN (5+ years ago) it was a "simulated" road test to 55 mph or something benign like that. No WOT blasts to 6600rpm :nono:. They did not even strap or chock the car.

Excellent suggestion. I'll do just that.

Same here in Looseville, KY.
Matter of fact, they stopped letting the owners ramp the car up on the rolls as apparently something went awray.
The tech never would tell me.

Here in NY, any car older then I think 2000 has to be dyno tested. They strap the car on the dyno, put a probe in the tailpipe and connect a clip onto the #1 spark plug wire.
Then they run a virtual road course accelerating and decelerating with a max speed of 55MPH. Once everything checks out you get issued a window sticker.
The newer cars get plugged into the computer, they start the engine and it does a check for any codes or A/F issues.
On the Dyno the T/C is to be turned off, The ABS wont be affected.
AWD cars are exempt from the dyno test
I have had my car inspected with a tune installed and no issues

Well had the smog test today.
I turned the traction control off but am not sure if it stayed off because the technician turned the ignition off twice that I saw.
Car passed with no problems and yes the ABS light was on when they were done but it turned off in less than a block upon leaving the station.
I was hoping that when he entered the vin number the test machine screen would display a message saying don't dyno this car but no such luck.
