Incredible flightline, Waukegan, Illinois today

I just got back from stopping by the Waukegan, Illinois airport. If you have a chance to swing by today, do so.

B17 Flying Fortress.

Yeah, a B-26 Marauder would have been nice !!! :D

Got any tail numbers? I know of a B-17 called "The 9-0-9" that frequently travels with a B-24 called "The Dragon and his Tail". I used to control traffic at a small VFR tower in PA, Beaver Falls (BVI) saw those come through once. The 909 actually crashed once off the deprture end of runway 28 at BVI years ago. They've restored it since.

Which B17 is there? I went for a ride in Nine-O-Nine this past Spring.

Took a lot of pictures... thought the one standing up through the radio operator's open window while in flight was interesting.

I got to see the last few flight worhty B-17 left in the world last year at Thunder Over Mich. last year. Very impressive to to hear the radials fire up on 8 IIRC B-17's. And I do belive 909 was there.
