So, let's say for argument's sake, Mercury never brought the Marauder back.

What would you be driving? For me, it would be a black SRT-8 Charger.

How 'bout you?

I would have kept my '01 F150 Harley truck.
Then got a used '02 Bullett or waited for a Mach 1.

There are no current full size cars I want.
I do like the MazdaSpeed6 though.

I can go back to square one on this, exactly where I was standing when I discovered the Marauder. Leasing a '03 Aviator for two years, if I could get all the girly stuff left off. I was about to explore the world of boating, and the Aviator had a purpose in mind. After that, who knows. Never went into boats or where that adventure would have taken me. But, most likely not a performance automobile.

Probably a Black CV LX Sport which is what I was considering before running over to the L/M dealer just to check the MM out. :D It is quite doubtful that the wife would have let me hang onto the '94 Thunderbird LX. She had a major problem with the Moonroof that leaked on her side of the car and the passenger seat that tore her pants. I guess that I could have gotten it fixed; but it never bothered me on the driver's side.

If I hadn't lost my job last year, I would still have my RX-8.

CV sport, used P71 or new P71.

Chrysler 300 or Charger V8 are nice, but too expensive. I hope the quality of Chrysler has gone up since my 1996 Intrepid. I gave the new generation interpid (1998) a chance, but I found it was worse.

Of course, the Ford has this problem with the 32 valve engine.........

I would still have my 94 Taurus SHO it was my favorite car ever until the Marauder came out then it went into second place. I had alot of money in her. Tokicos, Intrax springs, exhaust, intake, sway bars, 9mm wires, oh man hate to think of all the money I spent on her, and those were just the mods not the stuff I had to buy just to keep her running.

I can go back to square one on this, exactly where I was standing when I discovered the Marauder. Leasing a '03 Aviator for two years, if I could get all the girly stuff left off. You should be glad you think cars are expensive, boats are killers. Had a little 16' jet boat and everything cost more for boats especially electrical. Then the upkeep oh man dont even get me started. I'm so glad I dont have that anymore.

A CV Sport '03 BLack--which I was looking at when the MM came along---was gonna soup that beauty up and it was hard to change to the MM with over 7K difference in MSRP--but I waited 4 months for the first rebate of 2k and got the MM in Nov.of '02...and love it--a keeper

Probably a Lincoln LS. I was dealing on one before I found out you could get an MM in colors. My wife fell in love with a DTR. After driving it, I fell in love with the MM.

Wrecked my '04, found a super low mileage '03, in blue no less, to replace it.

While I would be looking long and hard at the Jeep GC SRT8, I would most likely still have my old '95 Cougar XR7 (V8) as my daily driver:

I drove an '03 T-Bird. "New" unsold in '04. Just 230 miles and discounted to 31k with hard top and upgraded interior. Nice car, but I'm not pretty enough for a rag top. Ideal car for a prom queen.

Looked at a 5 speed '04 Mach 1 in Competition Orange. Really fit the bill, but the insurance was insane.

Drove a heavily modded '00 Lightning. Was totally disappointed.

Briefly considered a '96 Firebird Formula. 6 speed, T-tops, 44k miles, just $6,000. Just couldn't see myself driving a non-Ford. That, and it was dark green just like every other car built in '96.

I just really wanted a car that would pi$$ people off. Something totally impractical for a single guy, with enough flash and style to get noticed, big enough to annoy liberals and Prius owners, and fast enough to shut down most cars. Trunk space, luxury items, warranty, and safety ratings weren't even considered in my decision.

Without the Marauder, I would have probably gotten a '70-'72 Maverick, '71 Super Duty 455 Trans Am, '67-'70 Cougar, '78 F-250 Hi-Boy, or an H-1 (former military). I'm still willing to trade the MM for the right H-1.

I would have bought the Silver CV Sport down at McCarty Ford. I had pretty much decided on the CV Sport, only stopped into the Mercury dealer just to give those Gran Marquis sports jobs a look. I knew I would buy as soon as I started it and heard the exhaust, and told the salesman it was sold about half way through the test drive. It helped that I drove a loaded GM first.

The Marauder changed my life by introducing me to the Marauder owner community, and by making such good friends. The CV would never had done that, though I would never have spent so much on aftermarket stuff.

Kept the 97 Town Car as my daily driver(now my wifes driver) and probably looked into S/C it.

And/or -

Picked up an CV Sport or GM LSE - also look into S/C's.

Definately not a panther, half my county has a CV or GM, I wanted to stick out. More than likely would have been a truck of some kind, but 90% of the guys at my high school have one of those, so there went the sticking out option. Got lucky and found a Marauder, even though I had never heard of it.

I guess a 03-04 CV or Town Car could have replaced my LSE Grand Marquis. While this one is a perfect commuter. Further, it became extremely rare here in Quebec as the locals are addicted to cheap rice :depress: or to even cheaper rice tin cans :bigcry: (Koreans).
Regarding the MM, this is another story. We all know that the MM is big, powerful, classy, specific,...in one word : exclusive. So besides an M5, I do not see anything which could compete.

Let me appologize to any one I offended with my "prom queen" reference to the '03 T-Bird.

I drove the car, and it's a great car. But, this grubby dirty ole Minnesota farm boy looked like an idiot in one. I also made fun of a Ford product, which I never do. That's how I keep my work boots clean; By occasionally sticking them in my mouth.:o Sorry.

After owning a 98TA vert, I would have to go back to rebuilding an old love of mine. 71 Cuda with a 440. I remember it was a chore to keep the rear wheels from trying to get in front of the front wheels. A Phrase I've heard comes to mind, "There's no replacement for Displacement".
