Think of it as a polite request.

Ive been lurking in your posts and I notice an abnormally high level of **** that people give you , mostly citing your age as their reason for bashing. That drives me up the wall because people of all ages do regretable things or most likely have done worse things in their time, thats life. I say stay, and if people dont like you they dont have to post. You are here for your car and making it better than FoMoCo made it.

It goes both ways. If everyone takes a step back and save the BS drama for the stupid TV soaps things would be fine. Then you can deside what to do. I am mid age and don't take crap from anyone but the fine line is making friend or enemies? I am going for more friends myself. I like stories too and have my own but be relistic. Just my 2cents.

Sit back with a cup of coffee. Magindat weighs in.....

Personally, I find Motorhead very entertaining and extremely eager.

You're a young guy and you have some issues. I've been in a similar place. That is: looking for acceptance and support in a world that just doesn't get you. Well, there's the beauty of this place. The car that brings us together is owned by a great diversity of personalities. You will find both support and lack thereof. You also have to remember that people are smart and they don't forget. Often people will put 2 and 2 together. Sometimes they get 3, sometimes 5, and sometimes a million, but they still remember and add it up.
I've borne my soul on this site as have others and I have been priviledged to receive opinions and support. I take what I want/need from it and am thankful that replies even came at all. Be thankful for the input and sort it out as you wish. Just say 'thank you' for people giving you their valuable time and personal experience, regardless of what they have to say.

I painted and modded my car in a way some people on this site don't like. That's fine. I have respected their opinions and in return they have respected the work I put into the car and the love I have for the car whether they like my mods or not. If you would go forward with a similar attitude, you will find similar respect, even if people don't like.

As Mary can attest, I seem to be the champion of the down-trodden here. I feel everyone needs to be given a chance to grow up. I have been in many car clubs throughout my youth and have been involved with many national clubs. In my humble experience, this is the most mature and knowledgable car club in the entire nation. At 20 you should feel priveledged to be involved in cars at this level at your young age. It took me 20 years (yes, your entire lifetime) to be involved at this level.

Count yourself lucky and join us with the respect you wish to receive in return.

As for me, 2nd chance granted. Use it wisely.

That's all I got. As Mac would say "Carry on, gents..."

Rich

A tip of my hat to MaginDat, he said everything running through my mind as I read throught the variety of posts. Thanks, Rich! I'll add my own seasoning now.

1) Only you can decide what to do, Dominick. No one here has any right to shuffle you towards the door because you march to a different drummer. When this site doesn't work for you any more, it may be time to move on, but that's your choice, and your choice alone.

Half of your threads make a lot of sense, and ask very good question. The other half bring out the worst in others, and both are good to see every once in a while. I've been here a long time, and I've had my sorry azz slapped around by the best of them. However, this board still works for me and I will not consider signing off until it stops working. If I followed the line that others wish to shove down my throat, I'd just be one more goon on the squad.

2) Where ever you go in life, Dominick, never ever ask anyone this question again. When you're the star quarterback in a winning season, you'll be carried on the shoulders of your fans. When you blow it in the clinch, you'll have to hitch-hike it home alone. That's life, but only you should decide to join the team next season, or, leave it behind.

See those initials under my screen name? That's my "degree", like a "Phd". The initials stand for "Stupid, drunk, liar, queer and thief", everything I've been called by a select few here over the last four years. Have I left? Do I consider leaving? Nope, and I won't until the MM.Net stops working for me. Seems everywhere I meet up with fellow MM owners, folks still like to shake hands, despite my credentials.

What ever you decide to do is your choice, Dominick, not ours, not anybody's.

Best wishes my friend.

Motorhead350 ...

I will abstain from voting on this, because I would like to suggest a via media (middle way) solution here:

What about if you stayed, and maybe spent more time reading, learning, and contributing in posts already started by others than in beginning new threads yourself?

I have to concur with others who have noticed that your threads have a significant "look at me" factor.

Your posts with honest questions about the MM, on the other hand, seem to be met with much better responses.

Also, if you stay (and I kinda hope you do) please consider the cumulative effect of the information you put in your posts. Unfortunately, if I had to concisely sum up what I've read from you, it would be this:

I'm gonna buy a supercharger for my Marauder! Then, if any money is left over, I may think about making the car payments.

No hard feelings, I hope. Because, in a way, I view you as one of the 11,052 smartest people on the planet.

Hang around. Work on developing a thick skin. It'll serve you well in whatever endeavors you choose later in life. Part of my current full time job involves doing things that get other people pissed off at me. Far as life in general goes, a certain percentage of folks will always be mad at you for something. Don't let it bug you. Some of these guys do what I consider to be wierd things to their Marauders. I happen to like wierd stuff most of the time. Some guys think it should remain in complete stock form, undesecrated. To each his/her own, I enjoy that individuality that comes out in what we do to our cars. What I like most is that darn near all of them treasure the car, and it's that commonality that binds us together in the beginning.

I guess what I am trying to say is Be Yourself. Some will like you, some won't like you. That's the way the world works.

Sorry folks, but since when do we push anyone around here?

I am the youngest of seven Brothers & Sisters. Antagonism only goes so far, then, all-of-a-sudden, you have a fookin' monster in front of you.... Go figure.

I'm no psycologist, but if everyone keeps bashing Motorhead, he's gonna get irritated. Yeah, maybe he'll leave, but either way, those who bash him are bullying and creating bad feelings. I didn't think we were here to make others feel badly about their cars, mods, products they sell, or for goodness sakes, THEMSELVES !

I am person with a great deal of Angst, always have been. As I have aged, it is easily surpressed. But get under my skin, and there's gonna be trouble! Guarenteed ! Picking on an individual really gets under my skin. Put the 2 + 2 above together for yourselves.....

Dominick is young and driven in is own way.

Ask yourselves this question. Do I like being kicked when I'm down?????

Funny, some people colors are really showing here......

I'll always support the underdog, count on it.

These are my simple rambling.

If we, as a group have posted things to make another here feel bad, shame on us. Appologies all around and let's move forward. And remember, we are all passionate about something, most of us are ultimately passionate about our Marauders.

Personally, I like Dominicks stories, and get the feeling he is looking for advise from those who have the best to offer. I think Dominick writes his posts in a way that makes us all laugh a bit, while we shake our heads.

Maybe we should all send him some good luck charms. Start with a rabbits foot....

Stay or go, that's your decision.

I've seen a few of the "I'm leaving and will never be back" threads around here in the past. Some come back and some don't. Sometimes the attitude is already soured enough that they get themselves banned. Sometimes they come back under a new screen name, sometimes they're gone forever. Best thing to do is sit back and listen (read) instead of getting bent out of shape and posting things without thinking about it first.

Agreed Defyant Wife.... For THIS thread. He asked for it, he got it, no doubt.

I (as Motorhead) refer to the prior misshaps. He does catch a lot of flack. He's obvoiusly had it. I just didn't think we did that here. (try to hurt an individual's feelings) I know this may seem like I'm a "softy", but this has always been an "Above Board" group in my opinion.

Your PHD should be much longer than that Mac.
You forgot the "A,B,C,another D,F,H,... the list of singles is 26 letters long, then we get to the doubles "AH,DH,SH,CS......"we could do this all day
and thats just what I've felt about you, note I didn't say "said".

Motorhead THATS the point.
You missed some bad blood between me and Mac on this board, and we're both still here.
Matter of fact I count Mac as a friend.

Members of this board have been banned(more than once) and came back, then banned again and so on.If you want to go,go.If YOU want to stay your more than welcome.

On this board ,and others,if you feel your getting bashed for something you said defend yourself once then let it go. Unless you want it to go on,then stay in it and post, you know the rules and from what I've seen you play by them.
Yes most of us are Older(much?),than you so what.We also have kids so that makes us parents too and we have a hard time staying quite when one of the kids post that they flashed the waa waa lights in traffic and thought it was fun.In todays world that can get you killed! Have you ever counted the number of LEO's on this board?

Look you've done nothing to get banned so it doesn't matter if 20 or 200 people on this board say go there are only 2 (now?) people with the big button to make you go and you haven't pissed them off yet so your good!
Sit back and read this board for a few days, don't post ,take a break.

As long as your still annoying at least one person, STAY!

Half the time I get the feeling no one is actually reading my posts...until I say something that's really funny...or really dumb. Sometimes they get it, other times they don't.

You actually do get responses. I couldn't count the number of times I've had the last post in a thread, or worse yet, started a thread and gotten NO responces.

I think the key is to not take yourself too seriously or anyone here too seriously. It should be obvious to everyone here that I certainly don't take things too seriously. "What? Me worry?"

"Peers?" Lol! If I wanted to be around my peers, I'd have to go to ManureSpreader.net, HayWagon.net, or FatChicks4Ever.net.

The only thing I've got in common with most people here is my car!

Man everyone always has to pick on Detroit. LOL. Well I guess since we are always the butt of every joke cause of the large amount of bad apples here, I will just have to look into some 26" spinners in yellow and get the MM repainted lime green so I can get that personalized plate: LEMLIME

First of all, asking us whether or not you should stay really smacks of (as someone said earlier) a joke for your own benefit, or a pathetic cry for help.

As for "age bashing" I don't bash young people for their age. When I bash someone who happens to be young, it's when they post on a board asking for advice, or show and tell of something they have done or bought (in other words asking for feedback); and then promptly not only ignore such advice but tell those giving the advice (who happen to be much more experienced) that they don't know anything and are just "old farts" and trying to cramp their style.

You want it, you got it. I really don't care, but since you asked . . .

+1

I've never weeded thru 77 consecutive posts before, my attention span is too short but today was a first. Some posts were keepers, like the one with the sympathy meter, Sgt Mac's and others.

Hey man, stay, learn, contribute, roll with the punches and don't take yourself too seriously.

Press on dude.

Im not going to tell you to leave if you post legit posts and threads.

But the non-sence that seems to have been posted by you latley really seems to be a waste of time.

If you can not contribute to this community in a good way, then dont let the door hit you on the way out.

BTW, we all like a good laugh. Just don't cloud your humor in a legit sounding thead. You'll fool us once or twice, but after that your a marked man who posts crap.

Once Again, Well Said.

I know you are talking about me Troll, but since I cant remember why I told you to screw yourself, it must not have been that big a deal. You gotta admit you older gentlemen often come down especially hard on us younger guys citing your unverified and vast experience in the game of life. Not trying to start anything, just voicing my perspective.

On that note..... I am 28. I believe I still represent the younger crowd (at least in my own mind).

I just hate the few that make poor choices that form opinions of the many.

Other examples are Firearm Owners, Motorcycle Riders and Lawyers. A few give the rest a bad rap.

I got enough attitude from all of you. If 20 of you say leave I'll never post on here again. Lets get rolling

If you want attitude then start an oil thread or better yet a S/C thread.:P

Answer this one question. If I leave MM.net will my life be better or worse in 5 years?

i was only trying to verify what you said was unverifiable. true you are on the net, but the vast majority here are truthfull and are loaded with info and wisdom that can only come with age. i and we do not try to beat down youthfull enthusiasam, but try to explain that there is a lot more to be learned by keeping your eyes and ears open . a lot of questions answer themselves by looking..
i am guilty myself of engaging mouth before brain.....but this all part of the learning process ..... if 350 is serious about learning, well he knows what to do.....

And people say that we start stuff. Why do always have to take a jab at the MCM gang? If we say something back all of you think that we are starting something. You know where you stand with me Mike so don't go there. I got an idea, let's start a get rid of Mike Poore thread. I guess you don't like us because we can stand up straight all of the time.

See? The kid's got a sense of humor, and that counts for a lot. We can't vote you in, or out. There are things in life to be very serious about, and if you stay here, or not, isn't one of them. If you start taking yourself too seriously, you'll end up living in Detroit.
Stay, learn, and mature......:geezer:

Guess what *********s? (I'm not calling everyone out) I'm not leaving! :D :D :D Yes I know words can't hurt me and never quit when you get down, but seriously lets look at this. More say to stay and than go and 1/3 are off topic from our a.d.d. friends. Seems like MM.NET is just another place like a working facility or school. We all find the crowd to hang around, talk to and we know those who will just crap on anything that they care to get involved in. Did I want attention? No, infact I really was considereing quitting.... THIS SCREEN NAME and starting another one. I was thinking 4DoorBlackTop, DumpTruckButt, SlicksInSnow, V8Killer or above all KEROSCENEKING ya know something stupid. I can roll with the punches and if you notice I'm sarcastic right back at them and they don't seem to like that. Well they can go to hell, I'll even hold the door for them. ;) I have posted a S/C form before and wow the heat I got for that... why I don't know, a S/C is a S/C... don't commit on that please, we don't need a war going in here again. :shake: Some of the stuff I do post is really outta step with what mainly goes on in here, but so what we gotta be original. Theres way too many 4.10 Gears Installed :) posts and others that are common things to do to the car, but I know I'll be guilty of saying something like that myself when I finally do some mods if I keep this car.

If I share something I do with the car about half say it's wrong and immature and the rest will say it's funny. So we got different opinions in here. I don't know about my age because just about everyone that doesn't approve of what I say or do always comes down on that. When I went to Marauder Ville III I didn't go on about saying everyones usually double my age and usually over 250 pounds and I don't see a problem with that. Age and weight mean nothing to me, it's the personality that does. As far as the name calling goes, those who do it are just insulting themselves by showing how weak they truely are... big car little man. Some of you actually do pickup on my careless sense of humor too. So again we are all different people in here and as far as the *********s go I really just got this going to tell you I'm here to stay. I'm not changing my posts or questions. If I wanna share my latest burnout spree I will, if I wanna tell you how I bent my rims I will... exc. Off topic stuff is fun too being that I enjoy music a lot too. If you noticed I was the one that started the Rock N' Roll Thread and can really relate to some much older than me... heck I envy you, I wish I could have seen Buddy Holly or Gene Vincent in concert. Say what you want, call me what you want, I'm not leaving. Anyone else wanna say anything go ahead, but my mind is made up.

Oh yea the best song by The Clash is Tommy Gun.
