Does anyone know how much it would cost to have a correct factory-type windshield replaced in a 2004 Marauder assuming that you are paying for it out-of-pocket with no insurance coverage?

Is there a preferred manufacturer for a replacement windshield? In other words, is one type higher quality? Is it possible to get the genuine Mercury part?

If you are mechanically inclined, but have never replaced a windshield, is it hard to replace the windshield by yourself?

Thanks!

I would call a few windshield install places just to get an idea what it will run you. As long as you ask for Carlite, it is from Ford.

Windshields are now a structural part of the car and it's almost impossible for a shadetree mechanic to replace one without previous experience. The passenger side airbag actually uses the windshield in it's deployment.

I myself try to stay away from those "mobile" type of glass guys. I feel you get a much better job when the windshield is replaced in a brick & mortar type of shop.

I, like many others on this site, had my windshield replaced under warrenty. As per my request, they replaced it with an exact OEM windshield that originally came on my (2003 300A) Marauder. I saw the guy doing it and while it seemed simple enough I would not attempt to do it on my own.

For what ever reason the guy left me a copy of the bill even though my insurance paid for it. The bill came out to $348.00.

Please note that I believe that you will be able to find it cheaper when you, like RoyalPITA suggested, price shop it since you are paying out of pocket.

I believe that paying out of pocket will get you a cheaper quote since they will be getting the money on the spot and since you get the chance to price shop. I have heard stories of insurance companys being charged over $800.00 for an OEM replacement because said companys must wait for the money.

Good luck.

250-300 bucks is my guess
