......at the dragstrip! :D
It was the third time in the nation that local LEOs showed up in full force with fully equipped cruisers in an educational endeavor called, "Beat the Heat". It's a program intended to educate people about the dangers of street racing and to encourage racing at the dragstrip. Anyone racing their cars during the test and tune session were allowed the rare opportunity to race actual police cruisers driven by LEOs. Man was that fun blowing his doors off! LOL! He was a great sport though, and was very interested in my MM. (By the way, all the cruisers were running in the mid to high 16s, for those of you with enquiring minds). I was running in the mid 12s.
After the win I was instructed to drive up to the winner's circle where the officer met me with his cruiser for a photo opp, (the pic is below).
I was also interviewed by a local newspaper reporter, (The Kalamazoo Gazette) and I was quoted at length in Monday's paper. :D
I also have video of my MM outrunning the Allegan County police cruiser which I will try to post later.
Also making a run on the strip was the "Police Interceptor Jet Car" which was louder that any commercial aircraft I've ever heard, (I literally had to cover my ears... it hurt) and it ran the 1/4 mi. in the high 6 second range.
If anyone would like to read more about the days events at the strip, (or learn more about "Beat the Heat" events) here is the link: http://www.us131motorsportspark.com/
It was a great day to own a S/Ced MM! :)
