Well, I really want a daily driver/commuter, but the time just isn't right yet. If it was, this is what I would want:

Minus the chrome wheel well moldings. I hope to find something just like this when the time comes: 2001 Grand Marquis LSE!!! buckets, console, cup holders, HPP, etc. All the good stuff of the Marauder (for the most part), but can run on regular unleaded and is missing about 65 horsepower. I wouldn't feel bad about doing 600+ miles per week on that and leave the miles off of the Marauder.

That's what I am thinking, too. Didn't all of the LSE's have the HPP, too?

I think so. I was going by the rims. They are the standard handling package rims.

Can the chrome strips above the wheels be removed wthout paint damage?

Yes, usually they are held on by screws on the underside within the wheel well. A lot of dirt and grime can get behind the mouldings and can damage the paint.

The LSE is a fantastic car. In principle, all the - very rare - LSE are equipped with the floor shifter, air suspension and 239 HP engine. Care that till 2002, the handling was very foggy. They changed the suspension in 2003. Does not handle as a Mini Cooper, but the improvement compared to previous model is very significant.
I have one, a 2003. I use it every day as a commuter (which the MM is not). It would compare to a MM without angle, but with chrome...
