I thought they no longer made the Crown Vic LX Sport, but I spotted two new ones at Don Reid Ford in Orlando. (Yes, I know they are not a MM, but someone may be interested). Don't remember the exact equipment on them, but the:

Silver (sticker @ $32425) was a flex fuel, that could use E85.
Titanium (sticker @ 33840) had the Moon Roof.
(May have the colors mixed up, but one had E85 and one had MoonRoof).

While looking at the sticker on the Silver, I noticed that it gives two Estimated Milage ranges. One when using Gasoline, and one when using E85. First time I've seen that.

All e85 compatible CVs and GMs have engine code "V". Earlier models + CVPIs and Taxis have engine code "W".

About time they list the fuel mileage for both the gasoline and e85. Fuel mileage will be much lower with the e85 only has about half the energy content of gasoline.

I also looked at a CV Sports at Team Ford. Very nice package - black with the new light flint interior. But, WOW the price at $34,000 with just a dual exhaust engine upgrade. My MM was listed loaded at $34,000 and I got it for $27,000. Fellows, I believe we got a deal on the MM with ALL the performance and handling upgrades. I'm happy.

You gotta be CRAZY to buy a new CV Sport, what with the massive depreciation both the CV and GM suffers. Better to pick up a low mileage used '06 or '07 and let somebody else take the hit. You gotta figure that $34K CV Sport will sell in the low 20's with less than 10,000 on the clock a few months from now.

Seems to me for 34k you could buy a pretty nice Hemi 300C or Charger (or Mustang GT for that matter).

Very true. The Marauder has held value better then the CV. On ebay

I see 05 Crown Vic LX's going for 12-15K w/ 10-20 thousand miles. Its bad.

The CVS is a VERY sharp car, but not for 32-34K.

I bought my CVLX sport new off the showroom floor for about 19500, plus ttl. ONLY after 5 hours of negotiation.

Just because a Sport is stickered at 34 doesn't mean that's what it's going to sell at.

Take mine for example, brand new on the lot the sticker price said 33. We came away paying only 20 for it. And I'm still glad we did that (93octane is rediculous around here)

I p/up my 03 sport last august with 33k miles on it for 14K. I am happy with the car except for the horrible Goodyear Eagle LS tires. We have gone through 8 Goodyears and finally switched to Dunlop Sport A2's and they still will not balance correctly. This car should had came with Michelin MXV4 Plus's, at tire that does everything well.

WOW! In that case its a steel!!!! I would only guess that 4K would be

the most you could get off the price for a CVS. Very nice.

Try a set of B/F Goodrich Traction T/As, they have been awesome so far on my car.

I drove a 2005 CV LX Sport prior to buying my MM. Found the car on line and went to the dealer to test drive. They had to find it, move 12 cars to get it out and then wash it so I could test drive it.

Nice but boring after driving the MM.

Sticker was $31K w/8 mi. on the odo. They came down to $24k and then stopped calling me.

Find a used MM and have fun!

I too bought my car new for well below sticker. I had looked at two MM's with 18k and 27k miles. I just couldn't see buying a used car that may have been abused for my business car - especially in BLACK in Florida's heat and humidity. If I would have found an SB MM used, the story might be different today. I'm still on a quest for the right MM and someday I'll find it.

For what I do this car is highly suitable - Quiet, roomy, comfortable and reasonably powerful with tremendous handling for a yacht! At our Trilogy track event in April, I ran 15.71 @ 88mph with 2.223 60' times on an 83*, humid night. This car is still all factory except for the Eibach springs in the front. It's not an MM but for what I need and for the price of a used MM, it works for me.

I'll just keep driving this big, silver, old person's car for the now. In the meantime, there's a Blue out there somewhere with my name on it.

Found a leftover 05 Black CV Sport at Rountree Ford in Brattleboro VT the other day... with moonroof factory installed at Crown. $32 K... they had it a year and would sell with not much haggle for $24 (regular gas...no E85 in VT)... But my 06 CVPI is just right....DTR with light camel.

My son bought a used 2002 CV LX Sport a few months ago.It only had 19000 miles on it and it was absolutely cherry. Its a slightly different shade of medium-dark red than my DTR Marauder, with a black leather bucket seat interior. It pretty much has all of the MM options, except for the Autotemp gauges on the console. It has a Ford handling package, but it isn't at all like the Marauder's suspension/handling equipment. You can really feel it roll in the turns, and the 4.6L SOHC V8 engine doesn't feel powerful like our 4.6L DOHC V8 does. Overall though, its a very nice, sporty looking car with most of the right stuff. But I agree with most of you guys about the new LX Sport pricing, when compared to the new Marauders.
*
Its a funny thing that the Marauders when new were criticized for their sticker price, and yet my 2004 Marauder was $ 36,800 and I bought for for $ 9,600 off sticker when you consider all of the incentives that were in effect that year (6/04). Now it seems the Marauders also have a pretty good resale value. Not huge, but ok. If I couldn't get a new Marauder, I would consider an LX Sport, or maybe a Charger SRT/8.

All e85 compatible CVs and GMs have engine code "V". Earlier models + CVPIs and Taxis have engine code "W".

Is the engine code located in the vin? If so then where in the vin is the engine code? Is it the eighth position in the vin? and if so does that mean I have an e85 compatable engine?

Actually, we don't have an e85 compatible engine. Engine code "V" applies to the DOHC 4.6 engine in our MMs and some earlier Lincoln vehicles. In 2006, however, that same code is used for the SOHC 4.6 in a CV, TC and GM. Ford does this with their codes. For trucks, "V" is also used for the e85 compatible 5.4 3 valve engine.

The engine code in our MMs is here (ie): 2MEHM75V03X600378.

Hope this helps.

I too was looking for a "Mercury Marauder", but could not find one in good condition around these parts. So I settle for a "CVLX Sport 02" in black with only 32k. only paid $11k. Love this car, but someday there will be the right "Marauder" for me.:burnout:

Just checked the dealers website and these two LX Sports are the only CV's that he has. For those of you interested in VIN's,

1st is 2FAHP74V46X116895, this is the E85 car listing at $32425.
2nd is 2FDHP74WX6X103533, this is the Moonroof car listing at $33840.

I have a local dealer near me (not the above dealer) who is discounting CV's by more than $10,000 (he says $11255), so with luck, these two above CV's may be purchased in the area of $22 or 23k.

Wish I had paid more attention to the milage figures on the E85 car (as it lists for both Gasoline and E85) but I did notice that when using E85, the milage figure was way lower (I mean a LOT LOWER) than the gasoline figure.

The moonroof car has the same type moonroof as the MM. That is the moonroof was added at a Factory builder, and not directly at the factory, as it has the moulding around the opening, just like the MM moonroofs and aftermarket moonroofs.

That's what I thought I read too on some E85 site but we are engine code 'V' as well. But didn't the Marauder just miss being E85 compatible?

What he said^^^^^^^^^.

I have had the B/F Goodrich Traction T/As on my CVPI (size 220/60/16) for 5 months and love them. Rain or shine they grip GREAT. Only weakness IMO is that the sidewall is a little too soft. Even at 36 PSI the contact patch is so large that it makes it look like it is under inflated.
