Free cars and advertising?

Is this :bs: or is this worth checking into. I read the FAQ and I understand it, they pick you and it looks like you have to drive good, no violations. Has anyone seen this? Any experiance? It could be OK if they don't have too much restriction.:rolleyes:

What kind of advertising goes on your car and how bad does it look? Even if the car is free, could you drive a rolling billboard fulltime? I, like most people, want to get noticed in my car, but that's because of what it is, not what's written on it :shake: Let us all know if you find out more. Sure sounds interesting.

ROFL that's funny stuff, been around awhile, I didn't know they still did this. I'm still unsure if it's for real, I wouldn't doubt it, just never personally seen one of these things.

I think the ricer crowd would be into this, most of their cars are already rolling billboards...

Gotta love the advertising, the top image of the web page shows a Mercedes all over it, the gallery shows what you really get - a base model New Beetle. LOL.

Before, I used to worry about my privacy on the Internet, some sneaky trojan horse program snatching my personal data and selling it on the web to no-goodniks.

But now...Now I can submit my personal data to some unknown web site, and it's only going to cost me 14.95 to sign it all over to them.

There is a place in Greensboro that puts these ads on the cars. A friend of mine used to work for them installing this stuff. They also fit the vehicle with a GPS tracking system. Once a month, you download the tracking info to the company and you are paid based on how much you drive, and where you park. If you drive mainly on major, busy roads, you get paid more. If the GPS shows you parked in a prime parking lot, like a mall, then you can get paid more, based on time of day, and how many people probably saw the car.

The company has geographical info that shows how much an area is worth.

Decals stay on the vehicle for about 6 months to 1 year, and then are replaced due to fading and such. Part of the agreement for having it installed on your own car is that the company that installed it must also remove it for you when your time is up. My friend said that they never had a problem with the decals messing up the cars and in fact, some of them came out looking brand new, since the paint is protected by a thick vinyl film the whole time. It is basically a static decal, the kind on the side of buses covering the whole side of the bus, windows and all. That is what the company my friend worked for mainly did. They installed those ads on the sides of buses for the local cities.

Anyway, it is real and fairly legit. Just so long as your GPS data is getting correctly logged. My friend didn't know too much about that part of it, and he never heard anyone complain about it, so he guesses they were happy with what they were getting.

I see 1 or 2 cars a week in my area with the ads on them. Probably more in the area, but I just don't see them in my neck of the woods.

I dunno about getting a free beetle, but back when I was in college circa 1978-80 two of my frat brothers drove Bush Bugs. They owned VW Beetles already, and were paid some sort of fee to drive for a certain period with Busch advert all over them. It was legit.

If it involved covering the whole vehicle, I would find one cheap with hail damage. But if it pertains to Bugs, then the hell with it.
