View Full Version : Why my next car could be a GM

With GM making the Camaro and now maybe these cars I could very easily buy a GM as a next car.

This article states that the Australian built Holden Commodore could easliy and cheaply be amde into a Pontiac. These cars were built with the US market in mind.

This new Commodore will have a 362hp, 390pdft of torque. These would be rear wheel drive cars. It said it would help GM make Pontiac a rear wheel drive company.

It also shows the Caprice which is a stretched version of the Commodore. Here are pictures;

If they build it like that I'll take one or two....

I agree... won't happen until or unless the current wimps and candy a$$es in upper managment at Ford are gone.

STLR FN, isn't that called the 429 concept or something like that? I can't quite remember the name of it. I remember seeing it on conceptcarz.com a longggg time ago.

Haha ... I read the title of your thread, Slim, and assumed you meant GM = Grand Marquis! :D

The Camaro I like, but . . .

Pontiac = Driving Excrement. I have never once been in a Pontiac that I liked or was the least bit comfortable to sit in.

Cool car but needs styling work in my opinion. Looks like a Chrysler 300C mated wtih a Fusion. Just my opinion!

Still Ford should take notice! We've talked about this before, Ford also has exciting cars in Australia, including a 4-door sport sedan with a powerful V8 and RWD.

Hate to say this folks, but Australians are getting more American-Iron than we do.

I think that it looks better, more distinctive, than the current generation GTO.

But the Caprice.....Isn't that a VW???...:sleepy:

More dream articles from so-called car mags.

I've read nothing that is definitive from GM that they will be building the Camaro. A lot of dancing around the issue.
Same on bringing another Australian built car to NA.

Same from DCX on the Challenger.

Maybe they will all be built as hybrids.

When you can go to a dealer, lay your hands on one and pay cash for it, believe it. Until then...........

The Falcon is a hot topic on the SVT boards also. I don't think it will ever happen though.

Both have been officially greenlighted. In fact, in today's USA Today there's an ad where you can win a Challenger.

Falcon is very FAST, Cool looking in a european way, would compete heads up against GM, and would peek lots of enthusiasts interest.
Heck they might even sell in decent numbers at a profit....
That is four, er......FIVE very good reasons why FORD will never do it!

The way we are going we all may lose our jobs. I have tried to be loyal but it is getting harder and harder everyday. When the big brass at the top start listening to the guys on the floor then I may start believing in this company again. As for right now, I have lost the fate in Ford.

bigslim

I would buy that in a heartbeat. I sent Mark Fields a letter asking why don't they bring the European cars over here and sell them as Mercurys since they don't know which direction Mercury should go in. I never got a response.

In another article, Waggoner's quote was a little less direct, and Lutz would not go as far as to say it is official, which probably means it is, but don't spend any money yet.

Funny how when DrZ left for Mercedes the move was hailed as a sign of a sort of independence for 'Chrysler' That didn't last long.
