Well getting back home after a month away, I got the D1SC on the car. Just knowing it was in the garage drove me crazy. I kept the 3.60 pulley on it so I wouldn't have to change the belt size with the current motor as well as when the new forged monster motor goes in the car (hopefully the middle of September).
The difference from the P1SC to the D1SC is incredible. Boost comes up so fast I got nervous as I didn't want to nail it (but tempted) with fear of over boosting and grenading the motor. 5 to 7 lbs under light throttle comes on so quick it makes the car fly.
Now I am even more excited to get the new motor in the car....Procharger # 2 is going to rock.

Since I never ran the P1SC I can't make a comparison, but I can say my D1SC rocks!

Glad to hear it's working out for you. Can't wait to see it run in November at Marauderville 4.
. . . When it cools down a little bit. I think a day of TnT at Bradenton is in order. Someday. Best of luck with your new gear Tom!

Thanks J, Once the new motor goes in, there will be some serious Tnt at Bradenton and probably Moroso as well...;)

AWESOME!
Your new forged engine/D1SC combo will be SICK!
I can't wait to get my F.I.T. kit bolted on and tuned....based on your comparison, I'm so glad I went straight to the D1SC upgrade!!

Was a smart move for you Joe. The P1SC was good, the D1SC unreal! Like having a roots blower with big mid-high end blower power. Hey, got the pictures. Thanks, wil help with my install of the cooler. Gotta love sick:D . Wicked excited to get the new motor in the car.

You guys are breaking my heart.
Tom, did you get any feedback on the condition of the internals before they did the D1SC upgrade? Do you know what they swapped out, i.e. gears and impeller? The rebuild upgrade path option is pretty nice to have down the road.

No feedback from them. Procharger completely rebuilds the blower. They even had to polish a part of the blower (of course for more $$). Biggest thing is the difference in the impeller design creating a faster boost curve by grabbing air as opposed to P1SC where the boost is more linear. I was really surprised at the difference.

Tom,
If you're gonna drive it long on the stock bottom end you better get a tune. Otherwise you'll have a hunk of scrap metal under the hood. Pull a ton of timing and add fuel to compensate for the high boost. It's nice to have a sellable or rebuildable engine left over after an engine swap! Helps the pocketbook.

Yeah I am driving the car once and awhile Brian, but have not put more than 5-7 lbs of boost under acceleration. I agree with you as I have no intentions of grenading the motor. Driving it very, very conservative. My son-in-law is getting the engine and putting it in his 94 Lincoln MK VIII after he gets it forged. My new forged monster motor will be going in the middle of September. Very temporary situation.

New motor is completed according to my engine builder Boss 330 Racing. Now just waiting for the word to get it put in the car along with some other goodies. Can't wait.

Al is one of the best, if not the best in the business. Ought to be a monster mod mill!
Should I be buying that Diet Pepsi Vanilla now??? :) Oh wait, I wouldn't want to cart it to Commerce and back.... :) :) :)

I agree Marc. I talked with several of my long term drag racing friends, including Tony Briante and Billy Glidden about Al Papitto. Both had nothing but great things to say about Al. I'm real excited at getting the motor in the car. Now I think I am going to have to spring for a Lentech transmission to keep that part of everything together. Damm more $$$$. Oh yeah, just a six pack will do Marc. Not much weight for your car to carry to Commerce. It will be a one way trip.

I just got off the phone with Bart :bows: at the Speed Zone. My new Boss 330 monster mod-motor will be going in the car in two weeks. Still need to get some additional parts together yet. 8 Rib pulleys, chrome powder coat the new blower tubes and air scoop for the 3 core intercooler and more. Scott Beer is standing ready to dial her in. Can't wait for that first ride:banana: .

Tom, I'm looking forward to the dyno numbers that beast will turn!
I might be able to have Scott & Greg use your tune as a 'base' tune for my upcoming S/C install.
What size injectors and what MAF are you using on your forged build??

I'm looking forward to see it all completed Joe. I have 60 lb injectors and a 90 MM lightning MAF with a Diablosport MAfia MAF extender. Have had both since I went with a 3.60 pulley (12 lbs boost) with the current motor to keep it safe. Scott Beer's tune has been great. He is ready to dial in the new motor as well after breaking it in with a base tune for 500 miles. With the new motor we are going to 1/2" stainless fuel lines, large fuel filter, larger fuel rails, Innovators West crank dampener (10% oversized - 7.5"), 8 rib pulley system pushing around 18 lbs of boost. Plus I have a Zex nitrous system installed as well for a cooler charge;) . Hope to have a nice street tune as well as an 100 octane race tune w/N2O:eek: . We'll see how it all turns out.:D
Oh yeah, thanks again for the pictures of the tranny cooler. Installing that before the new engine goes in. I'm really going to have to keep tranny happy until I can afford a Lentech. The transmission is the only weak link left to upgrade.

Tom,
Congrats on that D1 mod. Try to put your hands on the September issue of MMFF. There is an nice article on a P1 to D1 upgrade on a Mustang. Interesting info and dyno chart difference (+ 3 pounds, +53 HP and + 37 TQ). There also a very nice anodized surge valve that i'll try to retrofit on mine if i can get it separatly.
Be careful in the meantime before the next dyno check as the gains seems to be enough to disturb an otherwise fine tune.

I get MMFF magazine and read the article. The difference is really quite amazing. My car will be going into the shop for the motor transfer on October 2nd. I have been v e r y careful. The boost comes really fast.
