I have had the same bulbs in my door opener for over a year now and thought I'd share this. My opener used to eat light bulbs. One a month. I determined it was the vibration that was killing them. Went to Homedepot and bought a light bulb to plug adapter, short extension cord, round surface mount box, and a 2 bulb lamp base. I screwed the plug adapter into the opener lamp socket, screwed the box about two feet away to the ceiling into the nearest stud, cut the extension cord and wired it into the lamp base then pluged it into the opener. I haven't changed a bulb since. Under $10 invested.

Better yet. Change to fluorescent bulbs. 100 watt uses about 23 watts of power and they don't get as hot. I've dropped several and they still work. Only down side is in cold weather they take a while to get bright.

You can purchase bulbs at Home Depot for ceiling mounted fans.
There are inexpensive and last a long time.
IMO the are better than bulbs designed for garage door openers.

When I redid my Garage doors I replaced the crappy sears openers with a couple of top of the line belt drive, virtually silent, no rattles or vibrations. Like Zack, i use the heavy duty bulbs for garage door openers and I have never had one flame out.

Sounds like I could have saved myself a little effort. Ow well that's the engineer in me....never take the easy way!
