:coffee: Well after 37 pretty good years at Ford Motor Company I have decided to hang it up and retire. There dangling a little money in front of me so I figure I better take it and move on.Don`t really have any plans but to take it easy and injoy life on a smaller budget.I just hope Ford lasts longer than I do.Tomorrow is my last day.

Paul 37 years is a long time and if they offer you a decent buyout...why not??? You can always do something different, maybe you will enjoy it more. I have 35 years with my company and if they dangle money in front of me to leave...I'm history.

I wish you the very best in your future endeavors.

Congrats my friend, you have worked long and hard for this. Enjoy the fruit.

I'm a short-time myself, 10 working days until vacation and 56 working days left after that. Like you, I don't know what I'll do with my free time just now, but what ever it is, it will involve a lot more smiling.

Good for you Paul!

My Uncle just retired a month ago with 34 years (KTP), and is enjoying it quite well.

I only have 22 years in with my company, and hope it lasts so I can enjoy retirement as you will.

I agree with Jim, find a hobby. Oh, you own a Marauder. :D

Well, there you have it,..

Enjoy my friend,

Mike.

Hack;

If your profile is correct your are 54ish and much too young to retire retire.

Take a few weeks or months off and do the things your have put off, but in a year or so you will be wanting another position (not necessarily a job).

I retired after 44 years on the job @ age 62 (yes, I was 18) and now that I'm 67 I'm looking for something different but meaningful. I did all the house remodeling, lawnscapping, grandkids rearing that I intended. Now that I'm really free what do I do?

Volunteer work is OK at my age, but your 54 and will need something more active and challenging, does not have to be automotive related.

Believe me, been there, done that and got the T-shirt. Talk to other retired people your age for opportunities in your area.

Friends that were in the same situation went on to work at Universities or state/federal agencies doing mid-level supervisory work.

Good luck and enjoy your new life.

Pat
