Mostly agree...I'm scratching my head over their criteria; the list is heavily populated with concept cars as opposed to classics. That said, concept cars can be classics I guess...
The Mustang is there, as it should be. So is the Corvette and the Camaro. The 'Cuda should be ranked higher. I recognize the Parade of Progress concept vehicle but none of the others.
I'm moved to comment on the Delorean. Those are a sad case of what happens when crazy design idiots happen to good cars. I've always been partial to the looks of the thing---even now, 25 years after they started production, the doggoned things still look modern. But it's my understanding that the Volvo powerplants couldn't heft around the weight of the stainless-steel body, and that said bodies were/are a PITA to maintain. Delorean probably could've fixed these issues but he was too busy trying to sell coke for production capital. Tragic...to look at a Delorean is to wonder what might have been...:shake:

A list without a GTO is no list at all

I don't feel those concept cars belong on that list.
A "classic car" list should consist of production cars John or Jane Q Public could have bought new at their local neighborhood auto dealer.
They should put the concept cars on their own list like ...
"The 10 coolest cars that never really came to be" ... or something like that.

EXACTLY!
Really a stupid list, ....1/2 the cars are one-of-a-kind concept vehicles.

All of those cars were sold at Barrett-Jackson auctions fairly recently for high dollars. I think most of them went to that Ferrari guy who started his own museum. I think maybe he's trying to get people to come see his collection. :bs:

I agree with the list. Cool cars are great but it should have been limited to those that made production. Most people have never even heard of the Futurliner BUT... I remember watching the Barrett auction when that cool $4.1 million bid was placed. Not bad for a vehicle that had a $600,000 reserve!

Seems like the Mercury Cyclone Spoiler GT is missing, probably the coolest car of all time.

Like this one?
Not directed at you VNMUS...I'm glad you posted this....
But, directed at the list...I think it's bogus...show a list of actual "could have/did ownable cars" (yeah there are some in there, but come on...not Barrett-Jackson $4M one of a kind concept crap.

The list is garbage. Just seems to be cars that have sold for way too much at recent auctions.

How could the King Midget not have made the list? Musta been an oversite.

I would have thought that the '49 Tucker would have also made the list somewhere. At least ahead of the mini-bus thing.
The Oldsmobile F-88 is terrific.
Notice how many cars from the '50s and '60's made the Top 10.
I think that concepts and production cars should be in separate categories. :twocents:

If I had my choice of classic Mercs, I honestly don't know if I'd pick the 1970 Cyclone Spoiler or the 69 CJ428 fastback.
As much as I like the 1970 model, back in 1968, I bought a new Cycone GT fastback, 302 4v, 4 speed, Madras Blue, white stripes, black interior for a whopping $2,950 plus tax.
I added a CJ428 RamAir setup, hood scoop and hood tape strips, Keystone Classic wheels, Goodyear Polyglas tires, a 3:50 rear, Ford locking hood pins, 69 side view mirrors, a set of SW gauges installed in the dash stretching towards the passenger side, Holley 4 barrel, and removed the smog pump and the lower wheel/wheel tape stripe, which I thought was overkill after seeing the 69 model.
Loved that car. (Loved the 69 CJ428 in orange more.) Sold the 68 and bought a new 1972 Ford LTD Brougham because my wife refused to drive a 4 speed car.

Can a list like this really exist without vehicles such as the:
1963 GT40 mkII (Leman winning placing 1,2,3)
1665 AC Shelby Cobra
and a Drag race legend such as the 64 Thunderbolt w/ 427 SOHC Cammer
And thats only American cars....

Ditto on the Tucker, I'm now seeing new cars touting the great features the Tucker had over all those many years ago. Mainly the headlights turing the cornor with the car.
