Well as stated above, anyone her pull the engine & tranny (T5) from a fox body? If so can you pull the combo out together?
I think it'll clear, just looking for real world shade tree (or professional) mechanics who dunnit before.
thanks

Hey, if you can pull them ( with the front end up and the trannyshaft pointing down) from a 67-68 Mustang... why not?
No... i never done it on a Fox....
Now, I won't have to worry about that with my "68.

Yes.. You can do it assembled..pull rad and engine fan
For more room and prevent damage to the rad when
pulling motor forward.
remove rear trans mount and crossmember this will allow
you to tilt the motor and lift it at an angle to clear..

Hmmm. Wouldn't it be nice if you knew someone with a foxbody Mustang who just rebuilt his engine and transmission?:D
Yes, they'll come out as a unit.
No, don't call me for help...:P

I pulled one out of my 87 LSC to drop in to my 89 GT convertible. When I wore that one out, I installed another 5.0 into it. You know how to reach me.

They'll come out together.
A lot of those cars have Velcro motor mounts now because the engines are swapped around so often!!

I remember seeing a pic from the ealry 80's showing how the engine and tranny went in. They were both hooked together.

Pulled the one out of my 92 fox. With two people start to finsh should take like 1 to 1.5 hours to pull it all out.

Yup its easy. I've done it a million times. (well not a million but pretty camn close)
Just make sure you have room to slide the hoist back. Also its good to have a couple of buddies to help lift the tail shaft of the trans as you slide back it all out. Checking of ceiling hight is important too if your hood is anywhere near the top of the garage.
I've seen people not have enough room to back up. Jack up the engine then the hoist was resting on sheetrock and not enough room to get the engine out.
Most of all BE VERY CAREFUL!!! that SOB falls you could lose toes or fingers. I've seen a fender get TRASHED from a 4" drop of a shortblock.

Thanks all, I just didn't remember if it could come out or wouldn't clear witht he combo.
I've solved my own dilemma however. Sawzall to the radiator support, take the load up slightly with the hoist, roll car back. Oh yeah the 'donor' which I am harvesting from is uh.....disposable.

tossed it, it was junk, I'll psot up the good bits that are worth saving once the teardown is complete.
If there are any parts requests let me know, if it makes muster I'll save it, if not, junk it.
